liana's pov

It was the day after the party. I texted Kennedy and Nella, telling them most of what happened there. While texting about Luke, Kennedy said, "I bet he likes you." And Nella sent "yeah why else would he have been following you around?"
I just said, "ya ok shut up" and "he was super drunk so HE doesn't even know what he did. It's nothing"
Kenn said "ok whatever u say" with a smirk emoji. I rolled my eyes. I think I did like Luke a little now but I was trying not to. I was also trying not to let myself think that he would like me back. He didn't know me. I didn't even know him, yet I thought I had feelings for him. The only time he interacted with me though, he was completely wasted so that couldn't mean anything. Whatever. I tried to put it out of my head and do something else. I started watching conspiracy theory videos and somehow I ended up on Luke's band's YouTube channel. Fuck. He wasn't even that good, but there was just something about him and his band. His pretty blue eyes, the rasp of his singing voice. No, Liana. Not today. Even if he wasn't singing perfectly, he had a way of conveying emotion so well through music. When I watched him sing upbeat songs, I was bopping, and when he sang sad songs, I wanted to cry.

"Liana!" Karena yelled. Maybe this was a sign to stop watching 5 Seconds of Summer videos. "Dinner! I got you kale salad."
Oh yes, this was definitely a sign. Dumb Luke could wait, I needed my kale.

It was Monday and I was back in school. I completely avoided Luke and his friends at all costs. As usual, they didn't seem to pay much attention to me, so avoiding them wasn't too onerous.

Haley came up to me in the hall as I was on my way to English. "Where were you at the party Friday? I barely saw you. You came late and then after ten or fifteen minutes, I didn't see you for the rest of the night. Did you even get to try any of my drunk queso dip?" She said, slightly accusatory.

"Well I was there. You just didn't see me because there were a lot of people there, and when Luke Hemmings started falling over and throwing up, I took him into a quieter room and helped him."

"Took him into a room?" She asked very loudly. "What exactly-"

"Haley! Don't even! All I did was try to sober him up a bit so he wouldn't be too sick. I'll tell you more about it later. I got to get to class."

"Okay. See ya!"

"I'll explain. I promise. Bye." I smiled and went on my way to class.

My last class of the day was a study hall and Haley was in it too so I sat next to her so I could fill her in on what I did at her party. Everyone was so loud in the room so I didn't really worry about anyone else hearing what I was saying. I told Haley a simplified version of what happened. Just basically that the Aussies, mostly Luke seemed to be low key following me around, and that I gave him water and watched him nap when he got too drunk.

"So that's what I did while you all partied. Good thing there was one sober person there or else Luke could've gotten alcohol poisoning or really hurt himself." I ended my story.

"Do you like him?" Haley asked.

"What? No!" I tried to keep a straight face. My nose twitched a little. "Why does everyone bring up that aspect when I tell them what happened. He was just a stumbling drunk that didn't know what he was doing and I helped him like a friend."

"But you two aren't friends." Haley stated.

"Ok well maybe we're becoming friends." I barked back defensively.

"You like him." Haley declared with a mischievous smirk.

"Maybe." I admitted. "No." I paused. "Fine. Just a tiny crush. That's all." I glared at her demandingly, trying to convey that it was nothing more and she better not tell a soul.
