It had been a week since mine and Luke's first date. Later today I was going to his house for our second date. It was more of a chill day, but we were still calling it a date.

I noticed on Kennedy's snapchat story that she just posted a selfie of her and Michael, Luke's friend that she said she'd been talking to a lot lately.

I sent a text to our group message with her, Nella, and I that said, "yo are you and Michael hanging out today"

"Yeah he came over to my house today" she replied.

"Ooh what r u guys even doing" Nella asked.

"We were playing video games and now we're watching Netflix and chillin" Kennedy said.

"WHOA KENZ" I texted.

"Calm down its LITERAL Netflix and chill. We're watching Parks and Rec and sitting on the recliner that's it"

"Haha ok" Nella said.

"Don't u like him though does he know" I asked.

"Shut it we're just friends that happen to be a little flirty." Kenn replied.

"Sure" Nella sent.

"OK back to an earlier text, video games? Since when do you play video games?" Nella asked Kenn.

"Um I'm pretty sure Mario Kart counts as a video game!" Kennedy said.

"Ohh lol" said Nella.

"Soo Liana aren't you going over to Luke's soon?" Kennedy asked.

"Yeah in a few hours" I sent.

"Mike said that Luke really likes you and you're basically all he talks about and he keeps telling him to shut up"

"Aw" Nella said.

"Lol" I texted.

I drove to Luke's house and he met me at the front door. His host mom, Patty, was home and we introduced ourselves to each other. She seemed really nice.

"I'm going to the store but I'll be back in about an hour. I have no idea when Rosie will be dropped off from her friends house, but Luke I'll text you when I find out."

"Okay cool." Luke said.

"We have some snacks in the pantry and also some soda, and juice. You two can hang out in the living room if you want, but you might have to move when Rosie gets back." Patty said.

"Okay thank you." I said.

Luke looked at me "Rosie is my host sister. She's in sixth grade."

I nodded. "I see."

We walked into the living room and sat down on the loveseat. "I'm tired." I said, while yawning. I tilted my head and rested it on his shoulder.

"Well make yourself comfortable." Luke said. I couldn't see his face, but I could tell he was smiling.

Soon after laying my head on him, he started to pet my head and play with my hair. I smiled huge and got butterflies. Getting my head rubbed was one of my favorite things ever and having him do it, without me even asking made me extremely happy.

"So, not to bring up anything awkward, like you totally don't have to tell me much if you don't want to, but, so you know now that I've never dated or had a boyfriend, but what about you? I'm guessing you've dated before."

He stopped rubbing my head after I said that. He took a deep, sad sounding, breath in. "Yeah. I've only had one serious girlfriend before though. It didn't end well though."

"Aw, I'm sorry."

"Yeah, I don't really want to talk about it." Luke said, continuing the head rubbing.

"It's okay. I totally understand." I said.

For the rest of the evening, we talked, cuddled, ate snacks, and watched TV, and YouTube. It was perfect. During a whale documentary that I practically forced him to watch, we kissed. I know, it seems like an odd time to have our first kiss, but it was still amazing and romantic. Plus, after the documentary was over, he thanked me for making him watch it. We didn't bring up the past girlfriend or any sad stories for the rest of the date. I understood that he didn't want to talk about it, though. It can be awkward or uncomfortable to talk about past relationships, but he seemed really sad and bothered by whatever happened. I wish he'd tell me some more about what seemed to still be hurting him.

Rosie came home after Patty already had, so Luke and I had a little over an hour with just the two of us. Rosie was small for her age, and adorable. She seemed very sweet and it looked like her and Luke get along really well. She told him about some of the stuff her and her friend did today, and he seemed genuinely interested. It was cute.

Liana and I had a really good evening. We got to be at my host house alone for a while, and then we hung out with Rosie for a bit. I think Rosie and Patty both really liked Liana. I started to open up to Liana a little more, but I was still a little held back. She could sense that I got upset when I mentioned my ex, but I hoped it didn't bother her too much.
