liana's pov

As the final bell rang, signaling the end of the school day, I headed to my locker to put all my books away. Once I did that, I glided through the busy hallways to the lounge to meet up with some of my friends so we could drive to the mall like we did every Friday. As usual, they were taking forever so I decided to pull my phone out and scroll through my Instagram feed, even though I just checked it ten minutes ago.

After about a minute of continuously scrolling up and down, Kennedy and Trina showed up.

"Hey Liana," Kennedy greeted, and I said hello back.

They approached the booth; Kennedy slid in the bench across from me, and Trina sat next to me.

"Where's Nella?" I asked while looking back down at my phone.
"Who knows, she'll probably say she's down the hall and be on the other side of the school," Trina said, since Nella is always late.

"If she's not here-"

Just then, a pair of heels started clicking from outside and became increasingly louder.

"Chill fam I'm here," Nella said whirling her keys around her finger. "When are those Aussies leaving? They may have just got here but I'm sick of them already."

My head immediately shot up.

She took the seat next to Kennedy and set her stuff on the table, ready to tell the story.

"So basically I was in chemistry, and one of them - Ashton? - is my lab partner, but his bitchy, psychotic girlfriend sits on the other side of the room with the blonde one that Liana thinks is hella cute and-"
"I do not!"
"-and basically at the end I was talking with Lynnie and Lauren, and Ashton and Blondie kept throwing shit at each other and eventually Ashton pulled out a pair of socks and missed Blondie and it slid down my back and-" she shuddered, "honest to god they smelt like weed."

"Weed socks?!?!?" Kennedy gasped.

Nella nodded.

"Okay fam let's get going," Kennedy started pushing Nella out of the booth. "I'm on a mission."

Eventually we found ourselves at the mall, taking a long way so that we could plug my phone into the aux cord and listen to some music. Somehow it started with Nirvana, and ended with High School Musical.

We walk throughout the mall for about an hour, going in and out of whatever stores we please. I could smell Panera from Hot Topic and got insanely hungry.

"Can we go to Paneraaaaa," I begged.

"Chill," Trina yelled from the back of the store. "I need some punk rock things."

I whined and leaned against the check out bench. A wispy-looking-man approached me and started coaxing me into buying something. I declined, but I knocked into the bracelet rack, and I had to pay for five of them.

I went to go sit on the bench outside of the store and wait for my friends to finish shopping. I could see Kennedy cashing out and heading out through the doors.

"Are you okay?" She said, waving a hand in front of my face. "You seem to be in a really deep thought or something."

I immediately jolted up, snapping out of the trance.

"No."

She raised an eyebrow.

"What...it's nothing, really."

"Okay," she said while sitting down next to me.

After about five minutes of Kennedy and I having a discussion about feminism, Trina and Nella walked out of Hot Topic, each with bags full of merch.

"Alright so how about we hit up Panera and go recreate some more 5 Seconds of Summer pictures," Trina suggested. She pulled out a Nirvana tee from the shopping bag hanging around her wrist and held up to her. "I'm ready to channel my inner Calum."

And we were off, leaving the mall behind us.
