liana's pov

Luke's injuries had healed and Ashton had given us some "ghost hunting" training. I think we were going to be able to finally get rid of Vanessa and be safe again. Ashton and Nella had a falling out recently, but luckily Ash didn't let that stop him from helping us. Plus, I doubt that those two not talking would last very long regardless.

Anyways, we had seen V's ghost only once since Luke's major incident with her, but we used salt guns and iron weapons to keep her away like Ashton taught us so we were doing okay. This weekend is already a long weekend because Memorial Day is next Monday, so Luke and I are going to take off from school Friday too, leave for Australia Thursday night, and then be back by Tuesday for school. It definitely is still a short amount of time to be going to Australia from America, with the time difference and jet lag and all, but it's the best we could figure out. Ashton taught us that to get rid of a ghost for good, you have to burn the body, but V was already cremated. If that's the case, you have to find a belonging or some item that their spirit is tethered to, and burn that. So, we were going to go to Luke's hometown area and search around for whatever her spirit may be tied to and burn it as soon as possible. Luke guessed that the item was probably her heart necklace from her grandpa. She may have been a bitch, but she had a soft spot for her passed relatives.

"How will we know if we burn the right object? I mean, what if we think we got the right one because we don't see her ghost for a while, but then when we come back here, she appears again? Then we would've went all the way to Australia for a weekend for no reason." I asked Ashton with concern.

"You're going to have to summon her spirit and then burn the possible object, and see if she disappears. If she doesn't, try another object." He explained.

I was getting sort of stressed about this. I really hope Luke was right about it being the necklace, and that we could find that easily. "Okay. This still seems really risky, but thanks."

"I know. I'm sorry. It's hard. The paranormal is a tricky thing. I think you'll be okay though. Luke's guess seems correct. The item is usually something the person treasured and had a sentimental meaning connected to it."

I took a deep breath. "Okay. I hope you guys are right."

"It'll be fine. We can do this." Luke said, putting his arm around me. I rested my head against him and sighed.
