Luke and I have been dating for about a month. Things were going fast, but really well. He still seemed to have a wall built up, but it was ever so slowly coming down. The other day was Valentine's Day and he got me hazelnut truffles, and a gigantic teddy bear. We were getting more serious, but I think he was afraid to love. I think I finally knew why, because last week, he told me vaguely what happened. His last girlfriend had died. I felt so terrible and I tried my best to comfort him without smothering. He was worried about getting too close, in case something like that happened again. I promised him that I wouldn't die on him, but that's something I can't do that much about besides being normal, healthy, and not too reckless. Anything can happen, but I didn't intend on breaking his heart.

As for my friends, Nella had taken Kennedy's advice and got Ashton's number. They were quickly becoming good friends. I was pretty sure Nella liked him as more than a friend, but she couldn't do anything about it because he's still dating Bianca. Us four girls and the four guys had hung out together as a group again. Kennedy and Michael clearly have a thing going on, but neither of them would admit it. Calum and Trina were close friends too, but there's obviously nothing romantic between them. Calum and Lynnie might though. Trina and Kennedy have been trying to set those two up for about 2 weeks. It seemed to be going mildly successful.

This weekend, we were planning on going to see a movie together; Luke, Ashton, Nell, and I. It was supposed to be just a smaller group hangout but since Luke and I are dating and I was pretty sure Nella liked Ashton, it seemed more like a double date to me.

Saturday came, and the four of us arrived at the movies. Since the moment we picked Nella and Ashton up, they had been acting more couple-y than usual. I wondered if Bianca was jealous of how they acted around each other. Or if Bianca even knew about how close they were. Nella claims that their relationship is simply platonic, and Luke said that's what Ashton told him too, but there's clearly something else going on.

After the movie was over, the girls and guys split so that we could go to the bathroom. As Nella and I were washing our hands, I said, "okay spill!"

"What are you talking about?" Nella asked, with a clueless look on her face.

"Oh my god, for how smart you are, I can't believe how clueless you are!"

"What?" Nella yelled.

"I already guessed that you liked Ashton, but from today it's obvious. Also, I've realized that Ashton CLEARLY likes you back! Do you even see the way he looks at you? There is no way in Hell that it's simply platonic." I told her.

"Well, too bad, because that's all we are. Plus, he's dating Bianca still. And maybe we do like each other, but there's no way he'd cheat on her. He's too loyal and kind." Nella said, trying to smile, but I could still tell something was making her upset. We share a mental bond, and she was clearly lying about something.

"If he likes you so much, why doesn't he just break up with Bianca?" I asked.

"It's a long story and way too complicated. He just can't." Nella said, refusing to expand further at the moment.

"Okay." I said, giving up as we walked out of the bathroom and back out to meet the boys.

A/n: If you are feeling confused or in suspense about anything that I've kept too vague or mysterious, don't worry. If you read the rest of the parts of this fanfic, and a possible spinoff/companion fic, you will eventually know all the details, that, I'm sure are keeping you up at night not knowing.
