I woke up and saw Mel staring up at me. I sat up and she started to wag her tail. I went into the bathroom to get washed and she followed me. She even sat and waited for me to have my shower. Once I was dressed I saw a note from Mika on the kettle:
'I've gone to Paloma's for a bit. Apparently her and Zuleika are planning a Mother's Day surprise so I might be a while. Please can you take Mel for a walk? M-x' I sighed and said:
"Mel do you want a walk?" She immediately sat up, tail wagging and came running towards me.
"Is that a yes?" She barked.

I took her on a walk around the local park and she even brought back a small stick to play fetch with.
"Give it Mel. And fetch!" She ran quickly after the small stick and caught it in mid air. I smiled as I saw her come running back towards me. I threw it again and she ran off and started playing with another dog. I smiled as they ran around the park together.
"You didn't tell me you had a dog." David's voice came from behind me. I jumped forward and turned to face him.
"D-David what are you doing here?" I asked in shock.
"Fancied a walk." He said casually.
"Okay I didn't know you lived in Kensington. I thought you lived in Hackney." I said cautiously.
"I do." He said quickly. "You and that guy-"
"Mika." I whispered. He gave me a warning look.
"Don't interrupt. You and that thing live around here don't you?" He asked referring to Mika. I stared at the floor when Mel suddenly appeared again. I put the lead on her and looked back up at David.
"I-I need to get back." I stammered.
"I'll walk you back." He said in a controlling voice.
"N-no it's ok." I said trying not to upset him.
"No," he said grabbing my arm roughly. "It's the least I can do." He smirked evilly at me as we started to walk home.

Once we got to the road where the flat was I tried to make him go.
"M-my flat is just up the road." I tried to persuade him.
"I'd feel bad if anything happened to you." He lied. That was his way of saying
'I want to know where you live.' I sighed and continued walking.
"Is the guy you live with not in?" He said with a spiteful tone.
"N-no. Why?" He ignored my question and pulled me roughly along when I slowed my pace. There was no getting out of this.

I walked up to the door opened it and went to close it but David stopped me. I gave him a confused look.
"Can't I come in?" I hate this. He always pretends to be nice in public, knowing I'm freaking out inside, giving me no reason to act harshly.
"I-I umm I'm a bit busy..." I lied.
"Doing what?" He pushed..
"I..." Then he just pushed his way in, going towards the kitchen.
"David!" I shouted as I heard him looking in cupboards.
"Do you have any beers?" I paused, thinking of the consequences that David drinking could have on me.
"I t-think you should l-leave." I stammered and pointed to the door, my hand shaking uncontrollably.
"No." He said as he found the beer. Oh god help me. He downed it.
"P-please don't d-drink anymore." I said with fear as he opened another beer and drank half of it.
"Why not?" He shouted. I just backed off and went towards the living room. He followed me. Mel was sleeping on the sofa when I entered but when David entered loudly she jumped off and hid under it.
"Why were you running away from me?" He slurred.
"I-" he shoved me into the wall, pushing on my neck, choking me. I screamed as I fell against the wall with his hand resting on my neck, keeping me in position.
"D-D-David..." I stammered as his grip tightened on my neck. I suddenly put my hands on his wrists trying to pull them away as his grip tightened more. I can't breathe. I coughed and gasped as he stared at me with hatred in his eyes.

Mika's PoV
After an hour I'd planned Mother's Day with Paloma and Zuleika and it was perfect. Dinner at Paloma's house, a song from me, some jewellery which Zuleika designed and an extension design for her house by Fortuné and a family drawing by Yasmine. A small gift from each of us. Perfect.
I strolled home happily with the knowledge that Mother's Day would be perfect for us. However, when I opened the door to my flat I heard Hannah scream. I ran down towards the living room and saw her being strangled by David. I ran over to them and pushed David off her. She collapsed into my arms and gasped for air. I rubbed her back whilst holding up up with the other hand whispering,
"Breathe. Shhh.... That's it, deep breaths." I looked up at David who stood in the doorway staring at me. I helped Hannah sit down and walked over to David who retreated to the kitchen.

"WHAT THE HELL DO YOU THINK YOU'RE DOING?!?" I shouted furiously.
"Teaching her a lesson." He spat back.
"How dare you hurt her like that?!? SHE'S YOUR SISTER!" I shouted again. I was greeted by a punch to the face. I fell back against the worktop and looked at him, anger boiling up inside me. I couldn't fight him, he's way too big and muscly for me to stand a chance.
"My sister doesn't love you." He spat spitefully.
"She's only with you for money. Do you really think she'd bother with you? She a slut and a whore who gets what she deserves." With this I grabbed the empty beer bottle that was on the worktop behind me and smacked it over his head. He roared in pain as the brown glass spread around the room.
"Oh my god." Hannah gasped as she entered the room. David regained his balance and looked past me straight towards Hannah. This was no longer just about hurting her, it was about hurting her to hurt me and, hurting me to hurt her. His head was covered in tiny cuts with blood running from them. He suddenly ran towards Hannah and slapped her, caught her when she fell and forced her to look at me. I could see the fear in her eyes.
"Do you really love this?" He shouted looking at me. Hannah nodded cautiously.
"Speak!" He screamed at her.
"Y-y-yes." She whispered in a terrified voice. He slowly took a knife out of his pocket and I realised it was from our knife rack. My heart suddenly jumped to my throat and was beating so fast it could explode. I stepped back slightly so my back was against the cupboard. Hannah's eyes filled with horror as she saw the knife.
"Are you sure?" David spat at her. My eyes widened and I shook my head at her.
"N-n-no." She whispered, voice breaking and barley hearable.
"Liar." David said coldly. A tear escaped Hannah's eye and her body suddenly started shaking uncontrollably. I looked to the phone but it was behind them. My phone was in my jacket pocket which was at the table on the other side of the room and Hannah's was in the bedroom. No chance of escape.

Suddenly, a gut retching, ear scraping scream came from Hannah as the knife slowly cut down her arm, blood seeping from the deep incision. I took a step forward.
"Come any closer and she dies." David warned me. I immediately stepped back, my eyes filling with tears too. He pushed her to the floor, centimetres in front of me. He pointed the knife at me.
"If you move I'll kill you both." He spat.
A more powerful scream came from Hannah as he calved a 'D' into the top of her arm. All I could hear was Hannah's shaky breathes and her quiet cries of pain. Her face was pale and tear stained, her eyes were red and sore and her bottom lip was shaking, as if she was stopping herself from crying more. She laid vet still on the floor as blood poured from her arms.
As David was getting up I kicked the knife away from him and took a new one from the rack.
"Get out." I commanded.
"No." He said sternly.
"I'll call the police." I warned. And with that he ran out. I locked the door behind him and ran back to Hannah.

She looked a mess. She had dark purple hand shaped bruises all around her neck and arms. She had a red hand mark on one side of her face and both arms were covered in blood. She was also a ghostly white, as if half dead. I helped her up and sat her down, got some tea towels and put pressure on the cuts.
"Keep pressure on these." I said as I got the mop to clean up the blood on the floor. After, I cleaned the knife and made sure there was no glass left on the floor. I picked up my phone and dialled 999. Whilst it was ringing I said in a shaking voice,
"I'm so, so sorry Hannah. I should've stayed at home with you. I shouldn't have made you go out on your own."
"I-it's not y-your fault Mika. N-none of t-this is. I-it's D-David's." She said, pain dripping from her voice.
Suddenly someone answered the phone. I answered, my voice shaking again,
"Yes, ambulance please..."
