Punishing Kiss

"BRO, CLASSMATE pala kayo ng kapatid ko?" tanong ni Adrian sa akin nang nananghalian kami. "Anong ginawa mo 'dun?"

"What? I didn't do anything." I shrugged innocently.

"Galit na galit. Nagsumbong sa'kin." Tumawa siya. "Ikaw, hah, okay lang na asarin mo siya."

"Edi ayos! May blessing na pala ako mula sa'yo," I said.

"Pero . . ." Seryoso niya akong tinignan. "Wag na wag kang ma-in-love sa kanya."

Kinabahan ako sa sinabi niya. Did he notice my attraction towards his sister? I swallowed nervously.

Then he grinned. "As if naman ma-in-love ka 'dun!" Humalakhak siya. Hindi mo yun type. Saka, masungit 'yon.

Hindi ako ma-i-in-love sa kanya kahit kailan," I agreed, but I didn't fully mean it.

"Anyway, may iuutos pala ako sa'yo. Pabor lang since 1:30 pa naman klase mo."

"Ano yun?" I asked.

"Ihatid mo to sa kapatid ko." May folder siya na kinuha.

"Ano yan?" I arched a brow in question.

"Schedule niya."

Tinanggap ko 'yon.

A crazy idea suddenly came to mind.

"Ba't ka nandito sa literature class ko?!" naiinis na sabi ni Ria.

"What? Namali ako ng room 'nong first day," I lied. "I'm originally supposed to be here."

The truth was I took a picture of her schedule on my phone. After that, I logged into to the student's information systen, then added and dropped subjects to change my schedule similar to hers. Kaya sa huli, kaklase kami sa tatlong subjects. I hadn't taken up some first year subjects, so I decided to take at least three of them that Ria was currently taking up.

I knew it was crazy, but damn this girl. I was crazy about her.

She was obviously pissed off sa ginawa ko. Meanwhile, I was amused.

"You'll have to do a play on stage for our pre-finals," said our literature professor. "I don't want to assign people. I want volunteers. We'll have four groups, so we'll perform four Shakespeare plays. There's Romeo and Juliet, Hamlet, Othello, and Midsummer's Night dream." Patuloy lang sa pagpapaliwanag ang prof namin. "We'll do a grouping so you can prepare for a long time. The leaders would be the volunteers who'd take the roles of the main characters. Dapat maganda ang performance niyo. You have 5 months to prepare."

Ria wasn't paying attention. She was in a daze. Her attention was outside the window. Nakapangalumbaba lang siya, malalim ang iniisip.

"Who wants to take the role of Romeo and Juliet?"

No one raised a hand. I poked Ria's shoulder, and she glared at me. "Ano?"

"Nagtatanong ang teacher kung sino dito ang honor students dati sa high school."

She raised her hand, and then at the same time, I raised mine.

"So we'll have Ms. Andrada and Mr. Cortez as our Romeo and Juliet. They'll be group one."

Her eyes widened at what she heard. Then she blushed, embarrassed. She turned to look at me, and then gave me a look of daggers.

I just smirked.
