"Hey Lauren can you tell me where we're going so I can tell Robbie where to meet us?" I yell across the room.
"It's some steakhouse or something I don't know but it's suppose to be really nice. It's between Lehigh street and Wave Avenue." she replied.
"Cool thanks!" I send a Robbie a quick text and he sends back a quick ok.
"Wait! Robbie's coming? You guys got back together?"
"Oh yeah. I meant to tell you but I think you were out. I wanted to tell you when you came home but I fell asleep." I casually mention.
"Omg tell me how it went!!!" She shrieks.
"It was ordinary. Nothing special. I just told him it's gonna be different and that's how it's gonna be." I shrug.
"I was hopping you guys would get back together though! You both seem perfect together."
"Not perfect. Just compatible I guess. I don't think we're fully together. I think we're just trying again."
"I don't care I just want you to be happy. He seemed to make you happy."
"He did... He does... It just feels different. I feel more vulnerable. How can it be a relationship if I can't trust him at the moment?"
"You will in time. I think you need to start by trusting yourself." she said.
"You're just so wise when it comes to relationships." I sigh.
"Well I am older." she does a tiny hair flip.
"By two minutes!" I remind her throwing a pillow at her.
"Hey hurry up and get ready! We have to leave soon." she said throwing a pillow at me.
"Ugh fine." I groan with a tiny laugh.
I open my suitcase and rummage through the pile of clothes trying to find something nice for the dinner. I manage to find a cute flower top and a simple plain white miniskirt. I quickly change and curl the ends of my hair and throw on some makeup.
"How's this?" I ask coming out of the bathroom showing Lauren.
"I think it's really cute I like it. Now help me pick out an outfit."
"How long have you guys been dating?" I wonder.
"A few weeks. It was sort of after that double date at the boardwalk." she told me.
"How did it happen! I want to know everything!"
"He works here. He's a life guard. He saw me walking by and he stopped me for my number. We talked and it sort of happened. He's much better than Justin though. He's kind and thoughtful. He asks about me and doesn't just talk about himself. He's respectful and he's incredible." she gushes.
"He sounds amazing. Also I think you should wear this." I show her a red dress thats tight at the waist and flares out.
"I think this is perfect." she smiles and quickly changes,"help me with my hair and makeup!"
I straighten her hair and brush some makeup on her face.
"A red dress isn't complete without red lips." I said.
Makeup is scattered on the counter top in piles of lipstick, foundation, and eyeshadow palettes. Luckily the red lipstick sticks out and I can easily find it. I apply the red to her lips which makes everything pop.
"Open your eyes." I instruct her.
She opens her eyes and her lips grow a smile on her face and she lights up.
"Meg this is amazing. Thank you so much!"
"Yeah anytime." I smile.
A knock rattles on the door and Lauren jumps up to get it. She opens it and I see a tall figure with dirty blonde hair in a nice shirt and jeans. They talk for a few minutes and I zone out until I hear my name and see Lauren gesture to me.
"Oh meet my twin. Megan!" she calls me.
I walk toward them and hold out my hand,"Hi I'm Megan. Nice to meet you."
"Hi Megan I'm Nick. Nice to finally meet you. Lauren talks a lot about you." his deep voice says. He smiles and I study his face. He has crystal blue eyes. Lauren got lucky.
"We should go. Robbie's probably waiting for us." I said.
__________
We drive and I sit in the back fading in and out of Nick and Laurens conversation just letting the breeze flow through my hair as I look out the window. We pull into a parking space and I get out of the car. I see Robbie and he waves over to us.
"Hey you guys look great." he looks at me and gives me a small smile.
"Thanks." I quietly say giving him a tiny smile back.
"Nick this is Robbie. Robbie this is Nick." Lauren introduces.
They both shake hands and we head inside. Maybe it was a mistake by going back with Robbie. Everything's incredible awkward and tense. I don't say much but no one notices. I see Tori walk in and look at Robbie and give him a sweet smile. He gives her a tiny wave and goes back to the conversation. Why would he be friendly with her? Doesn't he know she tried to ruin are relationship? I don't want to be jealous but I can't help it. He can't still possible have feelings for her can he? I push it in the back of my mind and put a smile on my face for the rest of the dinner.
__________
We eat and say goodbye. Lauren hugs Nick and gives him a quick kiss.
"Thanks for coming." I said to Robbie.
"Is something wrong? You we're really quiet." he said.
"No I'm fine. I think I'm just a little sick." I was getting a little dizzy.
"Oh want me to drive you back to your room?" he offers.
"You don't have to Lauren will take me." I told him.
"Oh. We we're planning to go to the boardwalk after. But I can just drop you off and go."
I nod.
"Ok I'll tell Lauren that." he runs to where Lauren is and I see him point at me and they all look at me. I look away from them. He comes back and we walk to his car.
I hop in and we drive in silence. This feels like the longest 10 minutes of my life. We finally reach my hotel and he walks me to my door.
"Feel better, love. I'll check up on you in the morning." he starts to lean in to kiss me.
"Robbie, don't."
