"I hope you don't mind drinking your high end wine in my water glasses..." I started to say when Matt produced two wine glasses from his back.
"No worries,Felix is an excellent assistant." He placed one on each of our placement.
My dining table was square shaped and he set up the plates right next to each other.
" I can see that, but none for me please" Matt started to open the wine, with a wine bottle opener that was also probably brought by Felix.
Matt frowned at me. "Come on. Just a little taste. This is a really good year and besides, we wouldn't want Felix's efforts go to waste" He hit me with another one of his sexy smiles.
"Fine, but just one glass." I said and raised my hands in surrender.
"You go ahead pour and sit down, I'll just change out if this sweaty shirt." I made my way to my bedroom.
I washed my face to freshen up, changed into a light chiffon blouse, re-tied my hair into a bun on my head and swiped a little gloss in my lips. I looked at myself in the mirror. Not bad, I thought to myself and spritz on a little perfume on my wrists.
Matt was standing up, his back facing me when I emerged from my room.
"Sorry if I kept you waiting." I softy said.
He turned around and I saw a hint of appreciation in his eyes as he looked at me from head to foot.
"Worth the wait." he mumbled but I clearly heard it.
Nope,I'm not going to read anything about that.
I walked to the table and he pulled my chair off for me. "Thanks." I smiled at him.
He sat on my other side. "This looks good." He smiled.
We began eating in comfortable silence.
I took a sip of wine. I was surprised as it really tasted good.
Matt was watching me. "well?" he looked at me expectantly.
"You're right. It's not half bad" I chided him and laughed.
He beamed like he was the one who personally made this singular bottle of wine.
"uhm, can I have some more of the pasta? I love bacon" He sheepishly looked at me.
I laughed. " Go ahead, knock yourself out."
I soon finished my first glass and asked for another one which Matt gladly poured. We talked about our families. He had a younger sister who was still in highschool. His dad was a self made man who fought hard for everything he has now.
"You feel pressured to continue your family business aren't you?" I whispered, tilting my head towards him. " I saw you shoulders sag this afternoon when you talked about it with my dad"
"Was it that obvious?" he sounded pained.
" The important question is: Do you really want to continue your family business?" I asked. I took another sip of wine.
"Yes, I really do." He leaned forward and looked into my eyes. "It's just that.."
"You're afraid you won't live up to their expectations and disappoint your parents." I stated.
"Yes!" He ran his hands on his face and through his hair.
"My dad and I, we aren't really close. He was always a busy man, bent on making his empire. I craved his attention and did what any other kid would do to get their parent's attention. I caused trouble. A lot of it." He explained.
