A/n: update!!!! sorry I woke up late. lol.
so, here is the first update of two updates...

I'm dedicating this chapter to @cocoambrosia because you rock. thanks for the comments and the read. 😊

I was soon bundled up into a taxi service that would take me back to my apartment. I gripped the styrofoam take out box that contained the half of my big piece of chocolate cake. It was too good to be left behind, so sue me.

I gazed out of the cab window and watched the buildings fly by. I sighed. I felt drained from my night. It should be enough to put me off men for a while, from Greg's amorous advances, Bryan's unapologetic infidelity, and Brandon's well, unavailability to the female race. I just wanna crawl into bed and sleep well into the next century.

Thankfully my cab finally coasted to a stop in front of my apartment. I payed the cabbie and hopped out into the curb. I was trudging along my driveway when I noticed a shadow lurking around my doorway.

I dropped my precious confection and grabbed my phone from my purse. Ready to call the cops. " I am armed with mace and have the police on speed dial. You better leave! " I shouted as a warning, eyeing the shadow warily.

"We both know you don't carry any, Babe."

I dropped my phone and purse and stood there aghast. I couldn't believe my eyes as I watched Matt come out of the shadows and walked slowly over to me.

"Hi." He shyly said as he stopped an arms length away from me. His beautiful brown eyes peered at me while he scratched the back of his neck. God how I missed him.

"You made me drop my cake!" I blurted out. WTH!?. Apparently, Matt still makes my brain malfunction.

He stared at me in confusion and looked over my shoulder at the sad fate of my beloved cake and glanced back at me.

"It was a really, really, really good cake!" I exclaimed and proceeded to break down and cry like an idiot. I was crying not because of the cake, but because Matt was standing there in all his handsome and irresistible self, in front of me. In the flesh. Saying 'Hi' like nothing ever happened.

Matt's face morphed into panic and grabbed me by the arms. "Babe, I'll buy you another one, heck I'll buy you a freakin' bakery that will make nothing but chocolate cake, just don't cry. Please, don't cry anymore."

I stepped away from him and tried to wipe away my tears. "What are you doing here Matt?" I said between sobs. My heart ached at the thought of whatever painful truth he has to say to me.

"I need to talk to you." he explained.

I knew I waited for him to talk to me, but now, it seems so daunting. I don't think I'm ready yet.

"It's late. You couldn't wait until morning to talk?" I glanced at him. I can totally wait until morning if he's just going to break my heart further.

" No. I've been here since 5. I was kind of hoping to catch you when you got home."

"Oh." I said. "So, you've been standing there, in my front steps for the past 6 hours?" I cried incredulously.

"Yes. more or less." he shrugged. "Do you think we can go inside? I think one of your neighbor already thinks I'm a creep. She kept on looking at me through her curtains." He leaned closer and whispered to me.
