Mariana's POV

11:00pm

I couldn't sleep. Maybe it was the nerves or the excitement, but either way it was difficult for me to sleep. Yoandri is fast asleep by my side, snores escaping his lips. Yoyo could literally sleep through everything and I have always been jealous of that.

I close my eyes and just when I'm about to fall asleep I hear a tap on the window. I open both of my eyes and see that the trees outside of the house are also moving so that must've been it.

I close my eyes once again and move closer to Yoandri. That's when I hear another tap. I ignore it. Then I hear another one and another one and by the next one I'm already annoyed.

I move closer to the window and see that nothing is outside, just the trees. It was odd. I opened my window and that's when something hit me in my face. It wasn't hard, it was something soft which made it even weirder.

"Shit sorry!" I heard someone whisper yell. I couldn't see who it was, it was too dark outside to tell.

I look down at my feet where the object that was thrown at me had landed. It was a sock. I stare at it in disbelief and shock. Who in their right mind-

"Sorry for scaring you, but we need to talk."

I had to fight the urge to scream. How did he get up here so fast?

"Joel?" I whispered.

"Nope it's Jake." He jokingly said.

"Jake who?" I questioned.

"Jake from State Farm." He added with a quiet chuckle. It reminded me of the old Joel, my Joel.

"Socks really?" Was the only thing I could say after a while of silence.

"Yeah. I would've thrown rocks, but you know windows are expensive and I didn't feel like going through all of that." He whispered back.

I couldn't help but laugh at that. "So what do you want?" I asked. I didn't mean to sound rude, but remembering how he acted the other day didn't make me feel all too well.

"Oh yeah. I want an explanation." Joel replied.

"Now you want one?" I questioned him.

"About the other day-" Joel started as he scratched the back of his neck.

"Don't worry about it. Look Joel, I'm getting married tomorrow and I'm supposed to be asleep. Maybe that can wait." I said as I started closing the window.

"Look Mari, just give me a few minutes." Joel pleaded.

I looked into those big eyes of his. Those dark brown almost black eyes that could make me do anything. Those eyes that would often torture me in my sleep. I looked into those eyes and I fell into their curse.

So I agreed.
