11.Bombinate

Soon after the coming of age ceremony, the 'candidate' has to appear at "the Castle" and take up the assigned profession. The Castle is the human presence and resource center at the Colony. This is where workers actually attend office, manage things, and work together. Other than in the Castle, human beings manage job from their residence. Working jointly is avoided to increase the efficiency. Every evening, the entire workforce submits their record. The workstation verifies these records and the average are displayed to the "Society" or the employees knot. The best performer gets special allowance, while the under performer gets to do extra work the next day as punishment. Frequent under performance can lead to elimination, dismissal, starvation, and assured death. It was seen that workers would be distracted, easily bored, and lazy if they are functioning with other human beings. They tend to move away from their target and indulge in conversations if they work together. But in absence of company,other than their cyber-helper or android, staffs function suitably. The employment may vary from field to field, but working conditions are uniform in the Colony.

Char and her friends reached the Milieu. The androids connected towards the walls welcomes her with a salutation. Char was then asked to take a seat in the middle of the room while her friends got seats beside her. The computer-generated voice announced her candidacy number, code, name, status, parents, and residence. She agreed that all the information was clear and correct. Suddenly, all the attendees of the ceremony appeared in their computer generated virtual teleported forms. She could recognize her parents, few family friends, sponsors, and teachers. Other people present were those who controlled the Society or managed power at Castle. The computer announced her as an adult and the whole crowd applauded. They welcomed her to the Colony board after she was declared as an original member of staff to the Information Department. It is deemed as one of the most desirable occupation in the Colony. They disappeared soon and the title of M.I.D. (Minister of Information Department) was added to her status on her android. Then, her friends bid her goodbye. She had to start her job as soon as possible so that she wouldn't be seen as an under performer at the end of the foremost day.
