"Hey, Char! Have you seen Gray? He is not here yet." Zephyr said.
"No. Did you ask Force?" Char replied.
"Yes but she doesn't know. I needed his help here and where is he now?" Zephyr muttered and walked away. Char looked at her Smart Watch. Sensing her look the Smartwatch displayed:
25th hour. 61st May 3006 AD, Sunday. Episode: Maiden Voyage To Earth.
After the Earth Revolution, the Colony reformed its rules. They started planning a voyage to Earth. Now, no one is sent to jail for being exceptional or genetic error. One day was officially holiday. Retired people are now the responsibility of the Society and their work now supports the elderly. Arts, music, science, philosophy and every other Earthly matters are allowed on Styx now.
"Locate Princess." Char commanded to her android.
"Princess is in the lab." The android replied instantly. Char passed the information to Zephyr and set off towards the Lab.
In the lab she found Gray, her mother and Salient.
"Is everything ready?" Her mother asked her.
"Yes. We hope to leave within an hour or so. I came to take Gray with me." She said.
"Gray let's go." She motioned to Gray.
"We are taking Dulcet to Earth, right?" Gray asked for the nth time.
"Yes." Char sounded a bit irritated unable to understand why Gray was repeating the question over and over again.
"Should I take this to earth?" He asked showing Char the blossoming rose plant in a transparent polymer dome.
"It is up to you to decide. If you wish, you can take it with you." Char reassured.
By 30th hour they boarded on the spaceship GTD Metanoia to Earth. They landed on Earth after two months and seven days. They buried Dulcet's body close to the place where they had landed under a cherry tree as Gray had suggested. The natural vegetation was growing back on Earth and many spices had flourished. They couldn't stay long on the planet. After a week of stay, they returned to Styx. Only after vowing that they will come back home and that time they will be coming to stay and never to leave.
Char got back her job at Walls. She married Zephyr eventually and had three children: twin girls and a boy. She is afraid of darkness and always sleeps with lights on. She continued to be best friends with Gray and Force.
Gray married Force of course and named their daughter Dulcet. And about the rose plant: he did not plant it on Earth. He took it back saying, "It was named after me Rosa Graynesis. It was like him beautiful but thorny, soft but difficult. I cannot leave it on earth. He will sleep under the cherry, which will shower its flowers on him. I will keep this in his memory." He resigned his job as a legal representative and became an inventor and innovator.
Force became a music teacher and personnel. She started giving guest lectures on logics and at school. She collaborated with some other mathematicians to create an advanced model of space travel technology that increased acceleration through gravity utilization.
In all the years they prepared, awaited and dreamed of the day when they can leave this planet for home. Once they saw Earth, from then they knew that Styx was never home.
But they had sworn that when they will go home they would abandon all greed behind. Home is for life: somewhere to cherish, somewhere to long for, somewhere precious, somewhere worth fighting for, somewhere alive. Earth. ALTERNATIVE There isn't one for home...
