Mike's POV

After what happened to Sophia none of us wanted to talk. We all took the bus home and would talk to each other the next day.

My parents knew all about my friends and liked them. They were quite worried when they found out about Sophia being in the Hospital- again. I didn't go into details about what happened, just that she had a headache and passed out. I couldn't tell them she had been hearing our thoughts and it drove her crazy.

Then was the other part. Everyone had something weird going on with themselves except me. Jake had something like super speed, Charlie super strength, Liz could change her appearance at will and Sophie could read minds. If it happened because of the accident, why didn't I have super powers like them? Not that I was jealous of having to explain to my friend's grandpa how the door broke, going to the hospital or coming up with weird excuses because my hair changes color everyday. But still, it would be cool.

I have two brothers, twins and older than me, three more younger brothers and a little five year old sister. Well, her fifth birthday is to be in a month, but that counts as five, right?

Anyway. We had a schedule about where we were meeting everyday. Today our meeting point was at my house. Most of our meetings were at my house, Sophie's and Jake's and sometimes at Charlie's workplace.

Liz's house... Well, the reason why we go there is kind of obvious. With her mother and all, it would be weird. Charlie's house, for the same reason.

It had been a week since Sophia checked out of the Hospital. Her mother was still away, so she had the house to herself. Had it been one of the popular kids at school, let's say that there wouldn't be a house anymore. Her mother, Jane Dawn, would not return for another month at least, so we were mostly meeting there for now.

I was playing one of my favorite games online when I started getting told off by the other players, probably some guys from school. Truth is, I am not only bullied because of being better online than them, but also because I am African, which means I have skin darker than most of my classmates.

I shut the computer down and called the others. They had told me to call them once I wasn't busy so they could come over.

In reality, I might have a crush on Liz. Might. Anyway, I was waiting for all of them to come.

Sophia still had headaches and had passed out once more, but other than that she was okay.

Now, you might think we were taking the whole "superpowers story" lightly. You have no idea what happened. Me and Liz, yes, we took it lightly mainly because I hadn't shown any sign of having a power and Liz has had hers for the longest time. Charlie was mostly excited but kind of disappointed too, as if he wanted a cooler superpower and not the cliche super strength. I couldn't blame him; it was kind of lame. Jake was kind of afraid of his super speed, while Sophie... well, Sophie was terrified, extremely mad and kept shouting that her life was officially ruined. Little did she know that she was right, not only about her life being ruined, but our lives too.

A knock on the door and my mom shouting that Charlie arrived shook me out of my thoughts.

I went at the door and welcomed him in my room once again. He sat at the bed and I sat at my computer chair.

"Hey, man! What's up?" He asked.

"Nothing new... What about you? You seem far too happy." I replied.

"Well, I am happy because I got promoted, but other than that, nothing."

"Dude! You got promoted?! Why didn't you tell me sooner?"

"I couldn't tell you on the phone! It would ruin the surprise!"

"Wait until the others--" I started but he cut me off.

"Don't tell the others."

"What?! Why?"

"It's personal. You are the first and last person I talk to about it." He was serious.

"Wait; your parents don't know?"

"Nope, and they aren't going to find out."

"Okay..." I said and just then, the bell rung and a few seconds later Liz came into the room. Her hair today was bubblegum pink [a/n: get the reference?] but her eyes looked normal.

"Hey idiots!" She greeted with a smile.

"Always with a good word..." I murmured.

"Stop it with the sarcasm!" She snapped and suddenly, everything froze. Liz was in the exact same position, Charlie was sitting and looking at her with interest, there was no noise and no movement in general. As if time had stopped. I tried to move, and I did. I looked at the clock on the wall and it was frozen.

"Guys?" I asked. Nothing.

"Is this some kind of prank, because it's not funny. Knock it off." I ordered. Nothing again.

"It can't be... Of all the superpowers I could get, I get this?!" I said again and moved towards Charlie. I waved my hand in front of his eyes, he didn't react.

"Damn!" I say to myself.

"Sorry! It's, just, I am not in a good mood lately..." Liz said.

"Uhm..." I started.

"What? Wait... How did you get here? A second ago you were at the other side of the room." she continued.

"I kind of found out what my superpower is. And it is damn useless." I said. Charlie was suddenly interested in the conversation.

"What is it?" He asked.

"I stopped time." I said and they looked at me.

"Dude! That's not useless! You can cheat in tests like that!" Liz said.

"Does he look like the guy that cheats in tests?" Charlie asked her.

"No, but he could help us !" she said.

"Guys, I am right here."

"Oh, right." Liz said. That's when there was a knock at the door and the others came in.

"What did we miss?" Jake asked.

"You have no idea..." I muttered.

Great. I have a superpower that sucks. Isn't it awesome?
