"I guess it's a good thing we have a one story house." Liam joked as he struggled to walk into the house from the front porch.

I laughed and helped him up the steps, finally getting inside. He huffed and used his crutches to get to the couch, finally sitting down. I went back outside and got Leo from his car seat, carrying him inside. Since he was practically asleep in the car, I went ahead and took him to the nursery, setting him in his small bed. I went back to the living room and Liam was sitting back, inspecting the bruises on his arm.

"Do you need anything? Are you hungry?" I asked, standing in front of him and he shook his head.

"I'm fine, Sam." Liam laughed and I shook my head at him. "But, I do want some cuddles from my wife."

I laughed a little and nodded, going to sit next to him on the couch. I was careful not to hurt him so I didn't scoot as close as I normally would. Liam rolled his eyes and tugged me close to him, holding me close. I let him rest his head on my shoulder and ran my fingers through his hair, crossing one of my legs over the other. He slung an arm over my waist and practically laid on me, not that I minded. I was just happy that he was back home.

"Does anything hurt?" I asked quietly, scared that he would be close to being asleep.

"No, I just hate all these casts." He muttered, holding up his arm and I laughed a little, continuing to run my fingers through his hair. "Is my car completely totaled?"

"It'll be in the shop for a while." I answered. "But, I don't care about the car, as long as you never get in an accident again."

"I'll try." He laughed and I frowned up at him, not in the mood to joke about it. "What?"

"You have no idea how scared I was seeing you in that hospital bed day after day with all the bruises and stitches. I made myself sick worrying about if you were ever gonna wake up or not." I said, keeping my eyes on the cream wall, not daring to look at him.

Before he could say anything, Leo started crying. I sighed and pushed myself up from the couch, careful not to hurt Liam, and walked down the hall to the nursery. I picked Leo up from his bed and rocked him back and forth to get him to stop crying. After a while, he calmed down so I took him to the kitchen to get the formula.

God, these last few months have been the most stressful ever. After going through an adoption and spending a bunch of money on it, Liam got in the accident a month later. With our financial situation not being the best, I can barely sleep worrying about if I can afford everything that we need. And, since Liam is out of work for a few weeks, we're gonna be even more behind on the hospital bills.

I fixed Leo's formula in the bottle and shook it while holding him in my other arm. I heard Liam come into the kitchen and he sat down at the counter, watching me with Leo. I began feeding him and leaned against the counter, yawning. I didn't sleep at all last night, knowing that Liam would be home this morning, and I was exhausted from all the other sleepless nights in the last two weeks. I wouldn't have made it without the help from Gemma and Emily.

"Sam," Liam sighed and I looked over at him before returning my attention to Leo who was watching me as I fed him. "You look exhausted. Let me watch him for a few hours."

"I'm fine." I mumbled, setting the empty bottle in the sink. "You should probably take your medicine before I make dinner."

Liam reluctantly nodded and I took Leo to the bouncer that hung from the door frame to the laundry room. I sat him in the chair and turned it on, letting him bounce while I went to the stove. I pulled out a pan and turned the eye on, letting the pan warm up while I grabbed the chicken from the fridge. I cut off the nasty fat pieces and seasoned it before putting the two pieces in the pan. I got the asparagus and washed it, putting it in a pot to be steamed.

Leo started making cooing noises and it made the pounding in my head intensify. I closed my eyes for a moment and shook my head, going to flip the chicken so that it wouldn't burn. After dinner was ready, I put it on two plates, passing one to Liam. Since his stomach was still messed up from being on feeding tubes, he could only eat a little. I sat down at the counter with him and we ate in a somewhat tense silence as Leo continued to make noises.

"I'm sorry for making you mad." Liam said after a while and I sighed, setting my fork down.

"I just don't like joking about it because I almost lost you. I was so scared for two weeks and I could barely eat or sleep because I was so worried." I said and looked over at him. "I'm sorry that I got pissy but I'm just really stressed about the hospital bills and you're out of work and the social worker is coming next week to make sure everything is okay with Leo and-" Liam cut me off with a kiss and I had to pull away to take a breath because of all my rambling.

"Stop worrying. We'll figure it out, okay?" He whispered and I nodded. "We always figure it out. This is no different."

I just nodded again and leaned forward to kiss him, having missed such a simple action. Liam smiled against my lips and reached up to hold my cheek in his hand that didn't have a cast. I finally pulled away and offered a small smile, brushing his thumb across my cheek. I cleaned up dinner and we put Leo to bed before going to the bedroom. Liam struggled to get his t-shirt off and I finally had him sit down and I tugged it over his head. He smiled a little and I helped him get his sweatpants off, throwing the clothes in the hamper. I turned around, only to see Liam cuddled up in the bed, asleep.
