"Liam?" I called out, walking in the front door and he replied that he was in the study.
I walked in and sat my bag down in the floor, sitting down on the desk in front of Liam. He kept his eyes on the computer and I cocked my head to the side at his strange behavior. Liam finally looked up at me and he frowned, leaning away when I tried to kiss him.
"What's wrong?" I asked and he chewed on his bottom lip.
"Why didn't you tell me?" He asked and I looked at him, confused.
"Tell you what?"
"That you donated your eggs." My mouth fell open and Liam just got up, leaving the room.
When I was at uni, I was running short on money, so I sold my eggs. I had never wanted kids so I didn't think it was that big of a deal. Liam and I weren't together, so I figured the conversation wouldn't come up with anyone for at least a few years. Gemma and Emily were the only ones who knew since they were the ones to take me to get the surgery. I quickly got up from the desk and walked to the kitchen. Liam was pulling out stuff to make dinner and I tried to think of what to say to him.
"Liam," I sighed and he rolled his eyes.
"Were you ever going to tell me?" He asked, strangely calm and I fiddled with the wedding ring on my left hand.
"I didn't think it would ever come up. You know that I've never wanted kids." I pointed out and Liam grabbed a box of noddles to boil.
"I know, I just don't get why you would make such a big decision like that. I mean, you could have changed your mind or I could have changed my mind." He trailed off and I looked up at him in shock.
Ever since I've known Liam, he always said that he never wanted kids. He thought that it was such a big responsibility and he wanted to live his life without having to take care of another person. I had the same feelings about the topic and he knew that.
"When did you change your mind?" I asked, quietly, burying my head in my hands while my elbows rested on the counter.
"When I married you." Liam said and I sighed. "I see how you are with Ava and Nolan and I know how good you are with kids."
"Liam," I whispered and he sighed, walking around the counter to stand next to me.
"I'm sorry I snapped at you." He mumbled.
"How did you find out?" I wondered.
"The fertility clinic called for you to have a followup. I called back because I thought you were pregnant but turns out, you can't be." He lightly laughed and I looked over at him.
"I'm sorry that I didn't tell you." I said quietly and he sighed, pressing a kiss to the side of my head, pulling me closer. "I was running short on money and didn't know what else to do."
Liam sighed and I turned to face him, letting him wrap his arms around me. I pulled back and rested my chin on his chest, giving him a small smile. Liam leaned down and gave me a small kiss, putting his hands on either side of my face. I stepped closer to him and gripped the back of his t-shirt, tilting my head back so that he could deepen the kiss.
"I love you." He mumbled against my lips and I smiled a little.
"I love you too, Li." I whispered and he smiled, giving me one more kiss before stepping away.
"Now, let me make dinner for my gorgeous wife." I laughed and nodded, watching him walk around the counter.
Liam started cooking some sort of pasta and he handed me two glasses along with a bottle of wine. I opened the bottle and poured us both a glass, me immediately taking a sip. Work was so long today and I was ready to just climb into bed. After a while, Liam dished out our food and we sat down at the table.
"How was work?" Liam asked, shoving a bite of spaghetti in his mouth and I shrugged, taking a drink of wine.
"Exhausting." I ate some of my spaghetti and Liam smiled a little. "You?"
"The kids made me want to rip my hair out." I laughed and Liam jokingly glared at me.
"I don't think bald would suit you." I joked. "Remember senior year when you shaved your head?"
"Let's not bring that up." I laughed and my wine almost came out of my nose. "At least I didn't have pink hair."
"Oh, shut up." I laughed, throwing one of my croutons at him from my salad. "We should do something tomorrow."
"Like what?" Liam asked and I thought for a moment.
"Let's go to the fair." I suggested and Liam nodded.
"Sounds good."
We got up and cleaned off our plates, putting them in the dishwasher. I shut the light off and Liam tossed me over his shoulder, making me scream. He walked to the bedroom and pinched my hips, causing me to squeal. I dug my nails into his waist and he squirmed, almost dropping me onto the floor.
"Don't drop me." I laughed and Liam tossed me onto the bed.
"I'll never let you go, Jack." He stated, over dramatically and I just laughed, sitting up. Liam got down on one knee in front of me and took my hands in his.
"What are you doing?" I giggled and Liam shushed me.
"Sam, will you be the Rose to my Jack?" He said seriously and I stifled a laugh.
"Why, of course." I laughed. "You'll freeze in the ocean, though." I whispered and he gasped, tackling me to the bed.
"Sammy, why would you kill me?" He pretended to cry and bury his head in my shoulder.
"How much wine did you have?" I laughed, pulling his head up to face me.
"Not much." He laughed and fell down next to me, turning his head to look at me with a crooked smile on his face. "I'm just happy."
"Me too, Li." I sighed in content and he wrapped an arm around my shoulders. "Me too."
