You lay back on the couch watching Bam watch the television. He was leaning forward, his eyes focused intently on the flickering screen. You didn't want to disturb him, but really, you did.
Stretching your legs out slowly, you inched your bare feet closer to his lap and gently tapped his thigh with your toes. Without taking his eyes from the screen, Bam reached for your feet, pulling them into his lap. At the same time, he reclined backward in the seat, his eyes never leaving the tv screen.
"That's so ridiculous." He frowned and jutted his chin toward the television.
You didn't respond. You didn't have to. This was your happy routine with Bam. He would sit and fuss at the images on the screen and you would smile and watch him as he fussed. He was so beautiful. Your eyes loved the look of him and your ears loved the sound of his voice. Your mind loved his intelligence and humor, and your body loved his body.
You let your eyes travel from his soft long curls to the tight muscles of his shoulders. His hands were calloused and you felt the roughness as his long fingers rhythmically massaged the balls of your feet.
He would be done fussing soon and he would turn and smile at you, ready for a break from the "nonsense" on tv. You smiled at his profile, waiting for that moment. When his hand snaked out and reached for the remote, a fast-moving tingle like an electric current ran through you. This was your favorite time with him.
Bam clicked off the television and turned. As his eyes met yours, the frown lines on his brow disappeared and his smile expanded, revealing his two front teeth. Your breath caught in your throat as he looked at you. Willing yourself to lay still, you smiled in return as Bam stretched himself out on the couch beside you, gathering you in his arms.
"Thanks for being so patient." He told you this every night. You loved your routines with him.
"You're welcome." You said. You would have waited forever for this smile, this touch, this time with him. When Bam began talking softly to you, his deep voice sent ripples of excitement across your flushed skin. This was your favorite part.
"Bear decided it would be fun to have Gabe fling him across the field with the trebuchet." He smiled and frowned at the same time.
"Was anyone surprised by that?" You had come to know his brothers well and knew this was just one of the crazy adventures they would share.
"No." You both said at the same time. Bam's smile made you smile and his throaty chuckle made your laugh bubble out of you.He moved his head closer and his lips met yours. The heat from him nearly drove you wild. Calming your racing heart, you let him pull you further into his embrace. This was your favorite touch. His kisses were sweet and demanding, tender yet insistent.
Later, as you lay still, your head resting on Bam's chest, you rubbed his soft braid between your fingers. He wasn't asleep; you saw the corners of his lips curl in a smile. But he was happy and relaxed and you were both right where you wanted to be.
This was your favorite time, your favorite place, your favorite everything.
