Author's Note: This is a mini story I wrote several months ago that someone just rediscovered on tumblr. I thought I'd share it here.

You watched Bam from across the room and waited for him to come to you. It wasn't that you weren't interested in him, you definitely were, but he was going to have to work a lot harder if he wanted to have a chance to be with you. You flipped your hair back over your shoulder and pierced him with a direct look."Get on over here if you're coming." You mumbled under your breath as you lifted an eyebrow at him. He smiled and dropped his eyes, shaking his head at you. But he stood up and walked the few feet separating you and stuck out his hand.
"I'm Bam Bam." He had a deep voice that brought a smile to your lips as you gestured to the empty seat beside you.
"It's nice to meet you. Are you single?" You didn't want to waste any time trying to get to know this guy and then find out he wasn't even free.
"Yes. Are you?" He shot back.
"Yes." You waited. "And?" You gave him a little verbal push to see what he would do next.
"And what, girl? I asked the question, you answered it. What else do you want?" His brow furrowed and he leaned back in the chair, arms folded.
When you threw back your head and laughed, you saw Bam's smile again and he leaned forward in his seat and unfolded his arms. He was still interested.
"Are you planning to buy me a drink?" You didn't really want a drink but you did want to keep the conversation going and when Bam turned his head and beckoned to the server, you told him your drink request.
"Scotch with water."
"Sorry, I don't date women who drink liquor. Alcohol dulls the senses." Bam held your gaze and you tilted your head at him, considering his words.
"So you just expect me to stop drinking altogether if I want to be with you. Is that what you're saying?" He was getting you hot under the collar already. You never thought you should have to change who you were to be with any man and you had no intention of starting now. But Bam was...different.
"You can do what you want. I'm just telling you where I stand." Bam spoke without anger. You leaned your head back and looked coolly at him. His eyes were a beautiful deep blue and you realized you were starting to get a little lost in those eyes. He didn't flinch away from you when you challenged him. You saw enough fire in his eyes to know that he would speak his mind, but not so much that he would run you over.
"I'll have a club soda with lime." You looked away and smiled down at the table as he gave the server your order. His confidence was so attractive to you and that sexy beard and those long curls didn't hurt a bit either.
When your drinks arrived, Bam handed the server a bill and told her to keep the change. You saw that he looked directly in her eyes but your eyes narrowed when you saw her fingers linger on his.
"Step!" You shouted loudly at the startled server and stared so hard at her that she almost dropped the bill in her haste to get away from the table.
You rolled your eyes and lifted your drink to your lips. When you looked back over at him, Bam was gazing at you, still smiling and stroking his beard slowly in deep thought. If his thoughts were anything like yours, you knew this night and this man were going to be amazing. You lifted your drink to him in a toast.
"Who knows what tomorrow brings?" You began the quote.
"Live for today." Bam finished for you and lifted his glass.
