You stood on the deck of your small boat and waved your arms over your head. You hated to seem so eager, but seeing Bam again was all you had been thinking about since you met him. That day in town was like a dream now, one you had re-lived over and over. And as you saw him raise both hands and wave back to you, with a huge smile on his face, you knew this was going to be a day better than any dreams.

Grabbing your small backpack, you slung the strap over one shoulder and waited impatiently as Bam hopped in the small red skiff. He stroked with the paddle for the short distance to your boat and your eyes couldn't help but focus on his thick shoulder muscles as he maneuvered through the calm water.

He had been wearing a purple button-down shirt when you met him, and seeing him now in just a black tank top and jeans, you could see that his body was even more amazing than you had imagined. And in the week that had passed since he had invited you to his family's land for your first date, you had been imagining his body a lot.

"Hey!" Your grin was almost as big as his. Bam was handsome, but was absolutely beautiful when he smiled. Your plan was to keep him smiling all day and it looked like you were off to a good start.
"Hey, gorgeous!" Bam stretched out his hand for your backpack. As he swung around to toss it in the skiff, you got a good look at his long, curly hair. It was pulled back on top, but the ends were loose and it flowed softly over his shoulders. The sigh slipped out of you before you even realized it.

"What?" Bam still smiled, but his brow was creased a little in concern.
"Just happy, that's all." You reached out and put your hands on his shoulders and let him grab your waist to help lift you into the skiff.

As Bam swung you around, he pulled you close to him so that when you landed, your arms slid completely around his neck and your body slid down his. When his lips gently pressed onto yours, it felt as if every dream you had ever dreamed was about to come true. The kiss was brief and Bam pulled back and lowered his eyes, slightly embarrassed.

"I kept telling myself I wasn't going to do that." His half-smile was sweet as he sat down and lifted the paddle. Sitting down opposite him, you kept your eyes on his face and you wondered if you had been smiling even through the kiss. It felt like you had been smiling ever since you met him.
"Why? I thought it was a wonderful welcome."
You saw Bam's eyebrows go up and he looked directly at you, a solemn expression now on his face.
"I didn't want you to think I brought you here to take advantage of you. I really am a nice guy."
He said that with such earnest seriousness that you didn't dare laugh.
"I know you are a nice guy, Bam. That's why I agreed to come out here." You leaned forward and placed one hand on his knee. "And that kiss? It was perfect." You slowly slid your hand back, keeping the contact with him as long as possible.

Bam's full smile returned as he began paddling the short distance to the beach. Once there, he hooked your backpack over his arm and stepped out of the small boat. You expected him to swing you over the edge of the boat like before, but instead, he scooped you up with one hand under your legs and one hand supporting your back. He lifted and carried you like you didn't weigh anything. You tightened your arms around his neck and leaned close as he stepped with you through the short grass.
"Thanks for the lift." You joked as Bam set you down on your feet.
"Anytime."

The quiet moment stretched out and you weren't sure what to say. Bam was looking at you so intently and you would be ok with him kissing you again, but suddenly, he grabbed your hand.
"Can we just walk and talk for a while?" Bam waited for your reply and you were torn between wanting to feel the softness of his lips again and wanting to start getting to know him better.
"Sure. Let's walk and talk." You made your decision.

Bam held your hand and as you walked down the beach, he asked about your family and your job and your life in town. The conversation was easy and light and it felt as if you had known each other forever. The talk changed from the standard 'getting to know you', to 'what do you want out of life' before you could blink an eye.
You also quickly picked up on his wry sense of humor and it was a happy surprise that it so closely matched your own.

"I figured if the family got a dog," He explained with a straight face. "I would have something to throw at the bear before I throw myself at the bear."
"Exactly." You agreed. "And if you aim the dog a little to the left, it might confuse the bear enough so that you both get away."
"His name is Mr. Cupcake, by the way." Bam squeezed your hand.
"Who is Mr. Cupcake?"
"Our dog."
"Is he still alive?" You leaned in and bumped Bam's shoulder a little.
"Yeah. He outran the bear." You finally saw Bam smile and he turned his head to look at you. "You're easy to talk to."
"So are you." You replied honestly.

You knew then that you could talk with him forever. You couldn't ever remember feeling this at ease with a man this quickly. Bam was smart, but didn't make you feel intimidated. He was handsome but not arrogant about his looks. He was funny, but held that as a sweet secret for people he was comfortable with. When he kissed you earlier, you hadn't wanted the kiss to end. But now that you were sharing your past and your present and your dreams for the future, you didn't want that time to end either.

Bam suddenly stopped talking and stopped walking. He let your backpack slip off his shoulder and he sat it gently on the ground. Turning to look directly at you, his look was unreadable. You hesitated a second, unsure. His eyes traveled from your eyes to your lips and back again. You dropped your eyes for a second, a little anxious at the sudden quietness. But as you brought your eyes back up to his and looked closely at him, you saw clearly the reason for the change. Bam smiled and wrapped his arms around you, pulling you close.

He was done talking.
