Chapter 28: What is this Feeling?

Melody's POV:

It's already been a week. An entire week. I would be lying if I said that it's gotten easier. Yes, I suppose my heart hurts a little less each day I get up; but I am not even close to being okay.

Every day is the same routine. Get up, go to work, come home, go to sleep. Nothing ever changes. Sure my coworkers try to get me to go out; but I haven't been out with them since last Friday night. Matt has been bugging me to go out to eat with him. I finally agreed; just so he would stop bugging me.

I don't wear anything to fancy or sexy. Just some white shorts, a pink chiffon tank top, and some sandals. I hear a knock on my door and go to open it.

There's Matt, standing there holding flowers. I guess he doesn't get the hint that I just want to be friends.

"Hey Matt."

"Hey Melody, Uh... these are for you." He hands me the flowers. He must be really nervous. I wonder if he knows that this is not a date.

"Thanks, I'll go put them in some water and then we can leave."

I hurry to the kitchen and throw them in some water.

I quickly grab my purse off the counter, and walk back to the front door.

I walk in to find Matt looking at the picture I have off Travis and I on our wedding day. My heart  immediately drops in my stomach. I clear my throat to announce my presence.

When he turns around his eyes get wide, and his cheeks turn red.

"I'm sorry.." He starts.

"It's fine, let's just go."

"Um okay. You look great by the way."

I guess he isn't getting the hint that this is not a date.

"Thanks," I grumble.

We walk outside in silence.

"So what sounds good for dinner," He asks nervously.

"Nothing in particular, I'm not picky."

"Okay." He seems to be thinking my answer over.

"How about you show me your favorite place to eat chinese?"

His face lights up acknowledging the fact that I remember our conversation from the previous week.

"I can defintely do that. I was thinking that we could go see a movie afterwards."

"That sounds good," I say.

........

By the time we've eaten dinner and arrive at the movie theatre I am beyond ticked off. Matt doesn't seem to notice though.

"So what movie do you want to see?" he asks.

"You pick."

"How about that new romantic comedy?"

So he's one of those guys. I'd rather watch something with action. Travis understood that I only liked certain chick flicks. I really never wanted to go see the new ones that always came out in theatres.

"Sure." I reply.

......

By the time we find our seats I am ready for this night to be over.

I make sure to fold my hands in my lap. I don't want to give him the opportunity to hold my hand. He however does do the whole. Yawn, stretch, arm thing. I am beyond annoyed.
