Chapter 16: Head Over Heels
I groan as the alarm goes off. It's Monday. I do not want to start another week.
"Travis." I moan.
"Mmmm." His eyes aren't even open.
"I need to get ready. Let go of me."
"No."
"I have to go to work babe."
"No you don't. Not today. I called your boss and explained that you need a day of rest, because your doctor said your under too much stress."
"Are you serious?"
"Do I look like I'm kidding?"
"I don't really know. Your eyes are still closed."
"Babe. Relax. I'm not joking, I took the day off too."
"If I get fired..."
"You will not get fired. Go back to sleep."
"Okay." I snuggle back in to him, and drift back asleep.
.....
I wake up at 9 to an empty bed. Now where did he go? Then I smell something burning, and hear some faint cursing. Travis just can't cook. I love the boy but, his food is awful.
I quickly throw on a pair of his sweats; even though they are way too big. I throw my hair back into a messy bun and try to make my way to the kitchen.
"I told you to stop trying to cook."
"I am a very good cook."
"Oh so that's why there's something burning."
"I just like my bacon black, there is nothing wrong with that."
"Mmm." I cross the kitchen and wrap my arms around his waist. He twirls my hair in his hand.
"I kind of.. Might of.. Burned the eggs.. and the bacon..."
"How 'bout we go out for breakfast?"
"This is why I love you."
"Because unlike most women of the 21st century I don't expect you to cook?"
"Um.. Yeah." He scratches his head and I just grin at him.
I smack his butt and then go to our room to change.
"You really shouldn't tease me like that woman." He yells from the kitchen.
"Get used to it," I yell back.
I quickly through on some dark denim skinny jeans. I pair them withan over sized sweater and scarf. I decide on uggs and a messy bun, with no makeup. It's a lazy, relaxing day.
.....
Travis and I make small talk while we drink our coffee, while we wait for our food at Ihop.
"Is Ihop okay?"
"Travis this is great. I am pretty easy to please."
"I know but, there's no nice restaurants in town. I just want to treat my girl right."
I put my hand on top of his reassuring him.
"Travis I love you for you. Not the things you buy me or the restaurants you take me to. I love YOU. I like it when you call me your girl."
"You are my girl, no one else's."
"Is something bothering you?"
"I feel like I'm not good enough for you."
