Epilogue
Songs: Mine by Taylor Swift
Melody's POV:
It had been four years since that Christmas, and I can honestly say I'm happy. Which is something I was scared that I would never feel after everything that happened. Travis and I were happily married and the past four years have been nothing but bliss, of course there were a few bumps along the way. I had tried to return to New York and that resulted in my husband chasing me through the airport and begging me to stay. (Cheesy I know). I was lucky enough that my old boss in Honeysuckle had decided to retire, he signed complete control of the publishing company over to me and I was running a successful publishing business straight out of Honeysuckle. Travis gave up on his dreams of being a farmer about three years ago, he decided to become the local high school football coach. He truly loves his job.
Shortly after Travis became a coach our first child arrived, Dean Russell Marquet; named after our two brothers. He has been our pride and joy for the past three years and it makes me so happy. I love my husband and my son with my everything.
As for Cameron you may ask, she gave brith to my niece two months after the Christmas I returned. She and her husband are still happily married with their two beautiful children.
Both of my best friends are doing well, Stacy is married with her first child on the way and Drew is in a serious relationship with his boyfriend.
As for Matt, my creepy coworker in New York, it turns out he was arrested for sexual harrassment and rape and will spend the rest of his life in prison. I'm glad that I decided to stop that friendship after dinner that night.
My parents retired about a year ago and are now traveling the world off and on, making sure to come back home every month to see their grandkids. My Mom and I finally have a good relationship nad Dad and me are as close as ever.
Silvia had remarried and absolutely adored her grandson, she loved spending her days with her new husband and spoiling my little boy. We were all fairly happy.
A lot has happened since I met Travis, he really changed my life, and I think for the better. I used to be the small town girl that was shy and he's really made life worth living. We loved eachother and that's all that mattered.
I knew life was going to throw more obstacles our way , but now I know that no matter what happens we will face the future together.
I put dinner in the oven and joined Travis and Dean in the living room, they were playing tickle monster and Travis had just caught Dean's chubby little toddler legs. He was tickling his belly and Dean just laughed and laughed. It brought a smile to my face.Travis looked up at me and we held eachothers gaze for a few minutes.
I felt a kick in my now swollen belly, our little girl Willa May, would be on her way in about four months.
I looked up to shrieks of laughter,
"Mommy! mommy!" Dean was trying to talk but he couldn't help but laugh and laugh.
"Tell Daddy to stahp!" Travis stopped his tickle attack and Dean toddled over to me, ushering me to pick him up.
I lifted him up into my arms and rested him on my hip.
"Hi baby."
"Mama," He said in the midst of a yawn.
"Hmmm," I said.
"I wuv you," He said before cradling his head into the crook of my neck.
"I love you too sweetie."
Before I knew it little man had fallen asleep and I tucked him in. It looked like it was just me and Travis eating dinner.
We sat in a comfortable silence while we ate lasagna.
He grinned at me.
"Why are you looking at me like that?" I laughed.
"Like what?" He said.
"You're giving me a goofy grin."
We both startd laughing.
"I just really love you, that's all."
"And I love you," I said while leaning in for a kiss.
We cleaned up dinner and then snuggled on the couch watching "The Little Mermaid" for old times' sake.
After the movie was over I yawned, and Travis carried me to our bedroom.
After dozing off I woke up a little while later.
"Traaaavisss," I groaned, Willa was very restless tonight. and I just wanted to cuddle with him.
"Mel, it's almost midnight, what do you want?" He said in a kind and sleep filled voice.
I gave him my puppy dog face.
He got up and started to throw on some sweats, "Okay what do you want to eat?"
He was such a good husband, always running out late at night to tend to my cravings.
I just laughed at him.
He gave me a puzzled look.
"I just want you," I said.
He smiled at me and then crawled back into bed.
He kissed me on the forehead and I snuggled into his chest, we had entwined our bodies and received a peaceful sleep that night, knowing that our future together was bright.
