Ayeng's POV

I arrived at Nico's office and he wasn't there according to his secretary. I waited inside his office with a grim face. Pinaglunch ko narin ang sekretarya nito dahil hindi narin mahintay ang bwisit kong asawa.

"You better did something right, this time, Montejano!" nanggigigil kong bulong sa sarili ko.

Pinagkrus ko ang aking mga hita at kumuha ng isang magazine sa mga nakapatong sa coffee table at nagbabasa-basa para pampalipas oras.

Ngunit hindi parin mawala sa isip ko kung bakit wala ito sa opisina. His secretary doesn't even have any idea where is he and after lunch, he has a conference meeting. He woke up early and left without calling me, and now he is not in his office.

Argh.. 
Nanggigigil kong tinitigan ang magazines ngunit ang aking isipan na kay Nico. I let out a lungful of air in frustrations, and then I heard the doorknob being twisted. I straightened myself and squeeze my legs tighter. Nakatitig lang ako sa papasok na frame nito at hindi ako napansin na nakaupo dito sa sala habang inaalis nito ang coat. 

He looks murderous and I wonder what made him upset, I sway my curiosity aside. Nang akmang isasabit ang coat sa coat stand sa may gilid saka niya ako napansin.

"Andito ka pala, ma." He looks surprised and the darkness in his eyes withered.

He casually hangs his coat and then sauntered towards me with an unsure pace. Pinanood ko lang ang paglapit niya hanggang sa isang metro nalang ito.

"Ma, galit kapa ba?" masuyo nitong tanong. Gusto ko ng hindi man magalit ngunit naiinis parin ako.

"Saan ka galing?" I grit out crossing my hands over my chest. I know I sounded like a nagging wife, but I was waiting here for hours and hours, tapos ngayon lang magpapakita? Siguro ito ang may ginagawa at sa akin niya ibinibintang para pagtakpan ito. 

Hindi maipinta ang mukha kong nakatitig sa kanya. Bigla naman itong nagkamot while uttering incoherent profanities.

I watch him looks uncomfortable under my heated gaze. He shoved his hands insides his pockets and stared at me like he just caught stealing. He looks uncertain if he was going to smile or not. He steps forward and stood in front of the coffee table across me.

"I went to see Heina," sabi nito while he locked his eyes on mine. My face suddenly disgruntled. Why is he working behind my back? I was the one that suffered here.

Naningkit ang aking mga mata. "For what, Nico?" tumayo ako sa inis at hinarap siya, my eyes spitting fire.

"To find out how did the recorded conversation lands in her hand? And Veronica planned it all!" Pagkabanggit nito sa pangalan ni Veronica, biglang nagdilim ang mukha nito. Ang kanyang panga parang nagkaroon ng ugat-ugat.

Para itong papatay.

"Why didn't you wake me up? Why do you have to work alone? I was the one that suffered here and I want to see their faces and give them what they deserve!" galit na galit kong sabi sa nanggigigil na boses. Nakakuyom na ang mga kamao ko sa galit.

"I don't want you to leave that house because I'm being paranoid now. I'm scared something might happen again!" he seethed and he stalks towards me. He planted himself a few inches away from me and hold both my forearms. Kita ko ang galit at inis sa mga mata nito ngunit pilit nitong kinokontrol. "Damn, woman, you need to listen sometimes!" He whisper yells but mostly to himself. Pero rinig na rinig ko ito ngunit walang namutawi sa labi ko. We stared for a good few seconds bago ulit ito  magsalita ngunit in a low resigned boses."Do you want Heina, too, in that cell?" tanong nito sa akin with his hard and intense stare, pinning me. "She admits she wants me, but she didn't know all the photos and recorded conversation were all fake. She was too desperate to win me, that she didn't realize Veronica was detrimental to you and to our relationship," he interjected intently. I just stared into his eyes who held nothing at this moment but sincerity.
