The next morning I woke up in a good mood considering I was still a little mad at Nicole for ditching me with Saul yesterday.
I got up and went to the kitchen. I was standing in front of my fridge debating on what to make. I didn't find anything that intrigued me so I decided to go to the coffee shop. I got dressed in winter casual since it was chilly outside
I got into my car and drove to the shop.
I found a parking spot and saw a white Lamborghini parked a few spaces down. I scrunched my eyebrows. I went into the shop and was greeted by Nicole
"hey, hey, hey girly so how did it go?" "Terrible." "Really?" "yes." "you're a liar?" "How would you know how it went?" "Because he's here and he told me how great it went" "so that's his car parked outside, that makes sense but anyways so are you and him like best friends now or..??"
"Don't get jealous, he's all yours but I guess so. He came for some coffee and asked me why I wasn't there yesterday and that's how we got to the topic" "I'm not jealous okay just curious but so like where is he now?"
"Oooooh, wouldn't you like to know huh?" She wiggled her eyebrows. She pointed to her left and whispered "he is in the restroom" "Nicole I cannot stand you sometimes.." "well then sit down baby girl, btw he's coming"
I saw him coming out and he immediately recognized me. "Hey, Jamie" "hey, so how are you holding up with yesterday's training?"
"Good, a little sore on my arms and legs, but how about you? since that was your first time" "I'm a little sore as well" I could so see Nicole smirking and wiggling her eyebrows as I said that. "Just massage your arms and legs a bit, maybe put some ice on them and that'll help but anyways I gotta go and drop these coffees off and then go to a meeting so I guess I'll be seeing you later right?" "Yeah" "alright see you later, bye Nicole" "bye redhead"
He chuckled and was out of sight. "Alright Nicole I need my usual please" "not until you tell me what you two are doing later? Care to explain?" "Right I forgot to tell you since I was a little mad at you for ditching me but he invited out to lunch yesterday when he dropped me off and I said yes"
"excuse me!? This is serious news and you forgot to tell me omg I'm so happy for you. This is so exciting!" "Nicole it's not that big of a deal, it's just lunch but anyways I'm thirsty and hungry so toast me a bagel and give me my drink please"
"Okay fine, but I'm going to your place on my lunch break to help you get ready for this little rendezvous of yours" "its not a rendezvous okay it's just a civilized lunch to get to know each other" "oh Jamie whatever you say" she said as she put a lid on my drink.
"Okay here you go" She handed me my bagel and drink and I gave her my credit card. "So I'll see you later, text me if you need anything" "okay bye, thanks for the food" "no problem"
It was still super early so I decided to go to the gym to burn off some calories but before doing so I went home and changed. I worked out for an hour and then went back to my apartment to start getting ready for the lunch meet up.
By the time I arrived at my apartment Nicole was already waiting for me. "Let's get this girl, get in the shower now!" "Jeez okay mom" I got in the shower and scrubbed away all the sweat and grime from the gym workout.
I got out and dried myself. I put my robe on and went to my closet. Nicole was already on there looking though to see what would look best on me. She picked out a cute outfit for me and I put it on. She helped be straighten my hair and did light make up on me. I texted Saul to see where we would be going.
Jamie: hey so where are we going?
Saul: it's a surprise I'll pick up in 15 mins
Jamie: ok just let me know when you're here
"So he will be here in 15 minutes" "sounds good we'll you look amazing, have fun and let me know how it all goes tomorrow" "alright bye"
Couple minutes later I heard the doorbell ring and immediately ran to it. "Ready?" "Yes"
We arrived at a cozy place called "Spring Garden". He opened the car door for me and the restaurant door as well. I loved that he was a true gentleman.
A nice women sat us at a cozy booth. "So what would you like to drink?" "Jamie what would you like?" He asked me. "I'll take an unsweetened iced tea please"
"I'll have the same thing" "alright I will bring those out for you guys" "thank you" me and Saul said in unison.
The lady left leaving us to talk. "So how did your love for boxing begin?" I said while looking at the menu "Well when I was 13 I used to see my older brother box and after that I started loving it" "oh that's cute so your brother is like an inspiration to you?"
"Yeah you can say that. I really look up to him and the rest of my other brothers. I saw that they did something with their lives and in return got great success so I decided to follow what they did and make my parents proud"
"that's so inspirational I love it" I smiled. The lady came back with our drinks and took our orders. "I will have the Quinoa salad" He once again ordered the same thing as me.
"So where are you from? I know you're from Mexico but that's as far as I know" "I'm from Guadalajara, Jalisco what about you?" "I'm from Manhattan, New York, the city of dreams"
"oh New York I love it there! It's so pretty at night, the city shines with all the lights on" "yeah it's beautiful isn't it?" "Yeah just like you" "aww stop" I felt myself blush a little.
"Well you should know it's the truth I'm trying to be nice and compliment you" "well thank you, I think you're beautiful too" "I know that already" "how?" "Yesterday when you went to meet me I saw you staring at my abs when I took off my shirt. I even saw a little drool come out of your mouth"
I laughed. "Oh my gosh stop, I was not drooling" "no you weren't but I did catch you staring" "I'm so embarrassed" I covered my face. He took my hands away from my face.
"No don't cover your face" "okay sorry" all I wanted to do was cover my face again but I decided to follow his orders. I composed myself.
"So keep telling me more about you" "well I was previously engaged and I have a daughter" I nearly choked on my drink but I made sure not to.
"You know you don't have to keep going" "the girl I was previously engaged to was Marisol Gonzales and my daughters name is Emily" "that's such a cute name but how come I'm just now hearing about your daughter?"
"I try to keep her on the down low because I don't want her getting too much attention. I'm very protective of her. She is my everything and I would do anything and everything to keep her safe"
"I can tell you're such a good father and honestly I'm just a little shocked that you have a daughter and was previously engaged, I would have never guessed that"
"really is it that hard to believe?" "Yeah a little" "well enough about me tell me a little bit about yourself?" "Um well where should I start?"
Was I really about to tell him everything that I've been through? I didn't really like to talk about my life to others because of all that I've been through but Saul seemed like a genuine person that I could open up to.
