He came up to me and shook my hand.
"So you are......?" "Oh I'm Jamie Blackwell I'm a close friend of Nicole Ambrosio" "oh okay well where did she go?" he said while looking behind me. "Honestly I don't know?" "okay well I have to go back to training but you are more than welcome to stay and wait for her here"
"Okay thanks" He showed me a seat where I could sit. I watched as he punched his opponent and I have to say he's really good. I texted Nicole to see where she was and she texted me back saying she had left and to find a ride.
I was pissed but not for long since Saul took off his shirt and my god, he had abs like an Abercrombie and Fitch model. Honest to god I think I was about to pass out.
As I was gawking at his perfectly toned body I heard someone say my name. "hello? hello.... Jamie?" It was him calling me, how do I play it off? "Uh yeah?" "Do you want to come up here and try to box?" he said with a smirk as he was coming out of the ring towards me.
"I don't really know anything about it or how to fight?" "Don't worry I will teach you" "um okay but I don't have the appropriate attire?" "Just take off your shoes and jacket and someone will give you gloves and some head gear"
He helped me up into the ring and then a guy came to give me the attire that I needed.
"Thank you" I put the attire on and then Saul instructed me on what to do next. "Since you're a beginner we're gonna start with the basic boxing stance.
He began explaining to me the simple steps to a basic stance. "..Now keep your head behind your gloves, and your chin slightly down, keep your eyes just slightly over the gloves to see and then just relax and breathe. You also need to get used to returning to that position after all boxing movements. Got it?"
"Yeah kinda?" "Okay just go with what you know I promise I will go easy on you" "okay" He threw the first punch and I immediately blocked it. I tried throwing the next punch but let's be honest how would it be possible for me to punch a professional boxer?
We kept boxing or at least I "tried" boxing for half an hour before I got tired and had to leave. "For a beginner you're pretty good" "thanks" I smirked. "but now I'm tired, sweaty and very thirsty" "welcome to my world" he said. "Let me go get us some water"
He called over a guy and told him to bring us some water bottles. While he did that I tried calling Nicole to come and pick me up. "Nicole are you happy now? I think I've been here long enough, come and get me" "sorry I can't somethings come up"
"Nicole I don't care, this was your idea I'm the first place so come and pick me up" "Why don't you ask Saul for a ride" "no I will not ask Saul for a ride are you kidding me we just met" "well then I don't know find a way I have to go bye"
"Nic-" and she hung up. I swear when I find a way back home I was going to kill her. "I turned around to see Saul waiting for me sitting in the corner of the ring with two bottles of water.
"So it's getting late I bet you're going home now" I took a sip of water. "Yeah I have to get going" "okay well let me walk you out" "no it's fine I can show my self out" "I insist, what kind of person would I be If I let a woman walk herself out"
The only reason I didn't want him to walk me out was because I didn't have a car to be walked to and I did not have the guts to ask for a ride. I had no other choice but to walk to the nearest bus station. He opened the gym door for me and we walked out into the hallway "so today was fun" "yeah I learned something new and that was how to box" he chuckled.
"that's good I'm glad you're learning the sport I like" he opened the front door for me. "so which one is your car?" "None Nicole sorta, kinda ditched me so I have to wait for an Uber" "where do you live?" "About 8 miles away from here"
"okay you are not waiting in this cold for an Uber I'm giving you a ride" "no you don't have to do that" "you're right I don't but I am so come on" "I followed him to his car and of course he was the owner of the "winter time cold" car. I smiled as I thought of Nicole's words
"Wow this is your car huh?" "Yeah what do you think?" "It's really nice" "thanks" he said with a side smile. He opened the passenger side door for me and I got it.
He started the engine and we were on our way to my apartment. I started shivering a bit since it was really cold. "I guess the heater isn't enough huh? Here put this on"
He gave me his jacket that had a CA logo on it which by now I knew were his initials.

"So thank you for everything today. For the record I wasn't planning on you giving me a ride" "it's fine don't worry about it" "well thanks again" I reached for a hug and gladly accepted it.
I started taking the jacket off and he stopped me. "No keep it, it looks better on you and plus it's my reward to you for how good you were today" I smiled.
He got out of the car and opened the door for me. I once again thanked him for everything. As I was about to go into my apartment he shyly asked for my number. "hey can I get your number .... so we can plan another boxing session maybe?"
I smiled "yeah sure my number is ----" He typed it in his phone and he gave me his. Before leaving I got one last hug from him. I waved goodbye to him as he sped off.
I immediately got in the shower and went straight to bed. But before I went to sleep I got a text from Saul.
Saul: wanna grab some lunch tomorrow?Jamie: yeah sure that sounds good
I started to think that maybe instead of going off on Nicole, I was going to have to thank her instead. If it wasn't for her eagerness of taking me to meet Saul I wouldn't be laying here happy.
