EDWARD

Chapter 9

"Mate, she's desperate for you." Greg turned to me as Vicky walked away, wiggling her bum all the while.

"I gathered." I smiled, turning back to the table and leaning back in my seat.

"Yeah but she's a bit of a female player." Zach pointed out, "She's had her share of fun with most of the football team."

"Well it can't hurt to see what she's like." I shrugged, I'd never had a girl show an interest in me before, apart from my sisters that is.

"Come on, we'd better get to Trig." Zach got up and we walked to the lesson as the bell rang for the end of lunch.

After the last lesson of the day I spotted Vicky at her locker and went over to her.

"Hey." She smiled sweetly to me.

"Hi." I smiled back, "Listen, I was wandering if you wanted to meet up next weekend?"

"Sure, some of the guys are going to the lake on Saturday aren't they?" She asked, "We could join them?"

"Yeah, that sounds like a good idea, I'll pick you up if you'd like?"

"Sure, here's my address." She turned to her locker and wrote down a street name and house number on a loose piece of paper.

"Thanks." I took the paper, "I'll see you tomorrow."

"Bye." Vicky smiled as I headed towards the family car.

"What took you so long?" Bella asked, spite in her voice.

"I was just talking to a friend about going out on Saturday." I told her, "Problem?"

"Not at all." Bella got in the car and slammed the door. Jake and Ness had already left in their car leaving Alice, Jasper, Bella and I in the Volvo.

"So where are you going on Saturday?" Jasper asked me.

"To the lake, some of the guys are organizing a camp out and bonfire." I told him, "I don't think I'll camp out though."

"You can if you want." Bella told me, Talk about change in attitude, "Why shouldn't you?"

"I've got tons of homework." I told her, "I'll be in no fit state to do it if I camp out on Saturday."

"You mean you're going to leave it until last minute, again?" Alice rolled her eyes as she drove.

"Have I ever got in to trouble for homework?" I asked her before answering my own question for her, "Erm... no!"

"It's only because we help you." Jasper pointed out, Jeez, what's with you lot tonight?

"Our system works well." Was all I replied, knowing they wouldn't have a come back.

We all got out of the car and headed in to the house, we went about our usual routine of Esme asking how our day was and asking about homework before I went up to my room and turned up the radio so I could play on my computer games. After about an hour there was a knock on the door, I changed the screen to a half finished essay that I was typing up and got up to turn down the music.

"Come in."

"How are you getting on with your homework?" Esme asked me as she came in and sat down on my bed. I looked to the computer screen and shrugged, "Not bad I guess."

"That's good." Esme nodded and bit her lip, "Alice was telling me that you're planning to go out at the weekend?"

"There's a bit of a party being planned at the lake," I nodded, "one of the girls invited me."

"That was nice of her." Esme smiled.

"S'pose." I shrugged, "Listen, mom, I've got a lot of homework to be getting on with-"

"Of course." Esme nodded and stood up, "Dinner will be ready in an hour or so."

"Okay." I turned back to my computer as the door shut and went back to my video game.

A while later there was another knock on the door, I promptly changed my computer screen and called, "Come in."

"Hey, how's the gaming going?" Emmet came in and looked over my shoulder.

"How'd you-" I started to ask but just shook my head.

"This is the essay you were writing last week." Emmet laughed and ruffled my already messy hair.

"Don't tell Mom or Dad?" I begged.

"I won't mate." Emmet chuckled, "But I do hear that you're goin' out with a girl?"

"We're going to a party together... Don't tell me you want to give me the talk!?" I asked, horrified.

"Haha." Emmet bellowed, "But no... Though if you ever do want to know, I'll be more than happy to tell you."

"I'm good thanks." I told him, "So what did you want to tell me?"

"First of all dinner is ready." Emmet got up and opened my bedroom door, "And secondly," His voice softened, "if you're going to go out with a girl, make sure it's the right girl no matter how weird it seems."

I frowned at his words and hesitantly nodded, "Okay."

"You'll know what I mean when it happens." He nodded as he went.

"Edward, dinner!" Esme called.

"He's coming." Emmet called for me and left without saying anymore to me. This family just got weirder and weirder.
