No. Nonononononono. I couldn't even think. How could Niall do this?
"You lied to us." I numbly said.
"No please, just let me explain!" Niall cried. Leila had taken her hand out of his and backed away. She looked close to tears.
"Niall I trusted you!" She cried. I stood in front of her protectively.
"WOAH everyone calm down! I'm sure Niall has an explanation?" Justin looked at Niall expectantly.
This all felt way too similar to me. Deja Vu much? I knew we couldn't trust him. I should've trusted my own instinct.
"Please let me explain Lei! I-" Niall began.
"DONT TALK TO HER YOU BACKSTABBING LITTLE-" I began.
"LIAM! Calm down just hear Niall out!" Justin said.
"Thanks Justin. Okay I don't know where your parents are. I'm sorry. I've had my pack looking everywhere for them, but I don't know where Zayn took them." Niall stated.
"He told us he was going to kill them." Leila said steadily. She'd stopped crying but she wouldn't look at Niall.
"I can promise you one thing-He did not kill them. My pack saw his shifters leave with your parents. My pack tried to chase them, but the shifters called for Zayn and he came to make them all disappear with his special mist thing." Niall explained rapidly.
"But why would you tell us they were here?" I angrily asked.
Niall looked at Justin, who nodded.
"Because you guys need to be safe and protected. Nothing is more important than that right now." Niall said.
"WHY? Why are we so important? We were just a couple of kids a few days ago. What changed all that?" I almost screamed.
"You were never just a couple of kids. Your way more important then you realize." Niall said.
"Yeah yeah yeah. Everyone keeps saying we are SO important, but no one will tell us why! I THINK WE'VE WAITED LONG ENOUGH!" I said.
"Your right Liam. You deserve to know." Niall glanced at Justin, who nodded encouragingly. "Alright, I don't know where to start-" Niall began.
A merman in armor had come frantically swimming up."JUSTIN SIR! WE ARE UNDER ATTACK! ITS THE SHIFTERS!"
"WHAT?! THE SHIFTERS? How is that possible?" Justin cried. "They don't go underwater, they're like scared to!"
"Sir I hate to say it but they are nearly here. You have to get them out of here." He motioned to me and Leila.
"But you didn't tell us-" I began.
"Liam, there's no time. We have to leave now. I'm really sorry and I know this is going to be hard, but you have to trust me. I promise I'll explain as soon as I can!" Niall rapidly stated.
I looked at Leila, who was finally looking at him. She nodded.
Niall looked relieved. "Justin, what's the plan? Is there a secret way that will take us far from here?" He asked.
"Yes, follow me quickly!"
He lead us to a giant marble staircase that spiraled both upwards and downwards. He swam down and we followed. We went down farther and farther passing many doors along the way. We finally came to the end of the staircase. My ears popped... We must be underwater really deep.
I heard echoes of screaming and fighting. Justin froze when he heard this. "I have to help them... I need to make sure they're all okay... I'm the king, the leader... I have to protect them...jazzy, scooter, my mom..." He trailed off.
Niall looked down sadly. "Do what you need to do Justin."
Justin looked torn. It was like asking him to choose between his family and the fate of the world, because apparently Lei and I were it. I couldn't imagine how Justin must feel.
"I... I.." Justin began.
"SIR!" A merman swam up frantically. How did he get down here without us noticing? "You have to leave NOW. It's too dangerous for you to stay here sir, the palace is overrun with shifters."
"My family...!" Justin began.
"We got them out already with a team. Scooters leading it. Stick with the kids, the world depends on them," The merman said,"Good luck Justin."
"I... Thanks. You'll be okay?"
"I'm heading out now." He replied.
Justin nodded and opened the door. Outside was a coral reef with a variety of colors. There were fish, sharks, and other creatures I didn't recognize.
And out we swam out into the deep blue sea.
