I updated sooner this time, yaaay!

Sorry for the long time between updates, I have been so busy lately. I go back to school tuesday so hopefully my schedule will be normal then. I love you all! Please vote & comment Xx

P.S... I attached a picture of Jessie. I imagine him as Ansel Elgort.

"So, where's Dumbledore?" I asked my mom, glancing around the lair that looked remarkably similar to Dumbledore's office.

"Enough Louis. Try to take this seriously please." My mom said rather sternly. I shut up then, but only because I couldn't think of any more jokes.

"So... What are you going to teach me first?" I asked as we walked up to an archway that led to a large, mostly empty room with cabinets on the walls. My mom walked to one and opened it, grabbing a wooden stick.

"You're joking right?!" I said and my mouth fell agape as she handed the stick to me.

"As a beginning wizard you will need to learn how to direct your magic by channeling it through a wand." My mom said.

"Mom it's a stick-"

"Louis, please. I'm one hundred percent serious. You're already testing my patience by making me teach you this in the first place."

I groaned. "Fine." I huffed out in agitation.

"Now, as I was saying, channeling your energy through the wand..."

---

"Again." My mom said.

"I-can't!" I huffed out.

"Louis you almost lit it last time, you have to keep trying."

I looked down at the potato sack dummy again. I closed my eyes and focused on the stick-er-wand in my hand. I cleared my mind of all thoughts that didn't revolve around the dummy.

My mom began to repeat the same words she had said the last twenty one times we had tried this. "Clear your head. Breath in and out slowly. Try to picture how you felt that night that they attacked you-and her." My mom added the last words to her speech and I felt my pulse quicken.

Her.

I felt the flood of those awful, horrid memories hit me immediately. Cami's screaming felt fresh in my mind, and the image of her scratches burned through my mind-and also my body. I felt flames slide up my arms and downwards, curling onto the stick. I opened my eyes just as the fire struck the dummy. The dummy lit up like a Christmas tree.

"I-I did it!" I cried with glee.

My mom smiled happily. "I knew you would Hun."

"So... What's next?" I said with a grin.

---

Hours later I sat at the dinner table, eagerly asking my mom questions while Jessie looked on with a grin. My dad still hadn't made himself present, but then again, he never did.

"I can't believe you learned so fast. I've never seen anyone learn as fast as you did man!" Jessie said with a half smile.

To my surprise, I returned his smile. "Oh c'mon dude, we all now how amazingly awesome I am. It comes naturally."

My mom rolled her eyes. "That's my selfless son for you..." She muttered under her breath. We broke into laughter that was cut short by the appearance of my father. He shrugged off his jacket and glared at my mom.

"You taught him magic?" His voice boomed out, mounting the tension in the room unbearably.

My mom pressed her lips together and stood up, crossing her arms. "Louis, Jessie, head upstairs please. We need to have a private word."

I sucked in my breath and spun off of the stool and raced to the top of the stairs as loudly as I could. After opening and closing my bedroom door I grabbed a bewildered looking Jessie and tiptoed halfway down the stairs.

Their argument had already started, but I still understood what was going on.

"-not your decision Johannah! He's my son too, and I think he's much too young and-"

"Do you have any idea what he went through yesterday?! He lost his bestfriend Troy. He needs her. She's the only part of his life that was really his. Everything else has been one big lie, and I'm not doing it anymore. It's done Troy, I've made up my mind. He is a wizard Troy, and he wants to learn. We can't protect him any longer. He needs to be able to fend for himself. And if you're not going to support my decision, well... I...I'm going to leave you. You cannot control your sons life. It's time for him to learn for himself."

For the first time since I could ever remember, my father stayed silent.

I couldn't believe my mom was actually threatening to leave him. Not that it surprised me really, they barely saw each other as far as I could tell, but I'd never considered their relationship to be that bad. I heard heavy footsteps and a slamming door for the second time that day.

I sat there in silence for a minute before I heard my moms heels clicking in my direction. I bolted upright with Jessie hot on my heels and we raced quickly, but quietly, to my room. We sat down on the bed and clicked on the TV just in time.

"Oh, hey ma." I said in the falsest cheerful voice I could manage.

My mom faked a smile right back at me. "Hey boys. You gonna be okay for the night?"

"Yes Mrs. Tomlinson, we will be fine." Jessie said smoothly. My mom fake smiled again and left the room.

I let out a breath I hadn't realized I'd been holding as I locked eyes with Jessie.

"You okay man?" Jessie asked.

I looked into his eyes and saw real concern. Whatever else he'd lied about, our friendship was real.

"I guess. Hey Jessie.... I-I'm sorry for the things I said earlier. I kn-"

"Louis, you have every right to be-"

"No, let me finish... I know you're my friend Jessie. And I know you only lied to protect me."

Jessie half smiled. "I love you man. And don't worry-we will rescue Cami. I just know it."

I smiled back at him, feeling full of hope for the first time since we'd lost her.
