•---Past Louis---•

My mouth felt dry and my hands shook violently. Jessie was part of the gang terrorizing the school. And now he would turn us in to Joey-who I know wouldn't hesitate to shoot me. I squeezed Cami's hand tighter, holding on to her for life.

Jessie opened his mouth but made no sound.

"Hey, Jessie have you found them yet?" Joey called out.

Jessie suddenly turned away, completely straight-faced. "Nah, they aren't here. We should move on." He turned back and kneeled down as Joey and his goons shuffled out the door. "Get out of here. He's after you. I can't cover for you again. I-I'm sorry-I wish I could explain things to you but I-I can't." Jessie shut his eyes and walked away. The door slammed shut and we were engulfed in silence.

At last I turned to look at Cami, who was as pale as a ghost from the shock, same as I was.

"Did he just-" Cami started.

"Yeah."

"And he's really with-"

"Afraid so..."

"And he also just saved our-"

"Lives." I nodded. "But at what cost?"

Cami shuddered. "He wants me. J-Joey does. He's willing to do anything to have me. But why? What's so damn special about me? He doesn't even know me!"

"Everything is special about you Cam..." I said honestly.

Her warm brown eyes turned to me and she smiled that beautiful smile. The one that melted my heart every time. Her smile was light, warmth, and sunshine. "You know, you never let me finish telling you... And now I don't want to wait another minute with you not knowing... Louis, I love you."

I love you.

Those three little words had such a powerful affect. My heart felt like it would leap right out of my chest. I pulled her as close as possible and pressed my lips to hers.

Ecstasy.

Everything was absolutely perfect in that moment. The only real thing in the world was Cami. Her lips locked with mine, her warm hands wrapped around mine, and her soft hair falling around us as we became one.

After what seemed like forever, I pulled away gently. "We have to get you out of here."

She nodded and we stood up silently.
"We can't just go out of the door, they could still be out there. Is there a window in here?"

We split up and searched. As far as we could see there were no windows, but then again most of the walls were covered with various objects. I pushed a tall rolling bookcase out of the way and found something strange.

A brown wooden door.

"Cam, I found a door!" I said. She came over to me and frowned.

"What is that doing there?"

"I don't know, but it's our only way out." I took her hand and turned the knob. I squinted. All I could see was darkness. I took a step forward, pulling Cami behind me. In a sudden afterthought I turned back and moved the rolling bookcase back in front of the door and shut it.

"Lou!" Cami hissed,"I can't see a thing!"

"In case anyone comes this way we don't want to be followed!" I whispered back.

"But how can we walk down if we can't-" suddenly the hall filled with soft yellow light, "oh..." Cami trailed off.

"Should we be worried about that?" I asked.
