"Ugghhhhh." I groaned as I woke up. Woke up? I don't recall going to bed. I passed out... But...I'm a vampire? Vampires don't pass out unless they've been struck by wood or fire. I hadn't dreamt during my little nap either... I just sunk into blackness,
What the hell just happened?
"Mmmm." I heard a voice mumble. Oh, it was her! I glanced down at Leila. She was still sound asleep. I stroked her face gently. Then I realized I should probably get her out of here before anyone tries to-
"GET YOUR HANDS OFF MY SISTER YOU DISGUSTING VAMPIRE!" I hear a voice heading towards me say.
"GET AWAY FROM HER NOW!" Another voice growls.
I stand up with her in my arms in a millisecond. I look towards the voices. It's some blond guy and another guy who looks very familiar. "Sister? Ahhh I remember you. Now, I recommend you back off so we don't have a repeat of the last time we met, right Liam?" I say with a smirk.
Liam gives me one of the worst death stares I've ever seen. "Let my sister go. Or I'll make you." He says steadily. Looking into his mind I can sense the hate and loathing he has for all abnormal creatures, but especially me. I also notice how much he loves and cares about Leila. He's spent his whole life protecting her, and now here I am, about to steal her. In his eyes, losing her is worse than death. And losing her to someone like me... It almost makes me feel sorry for him, but not sorry enough to let her go.
"Sorry mate, can't do that. You see, she's my soulmate." I grin, letting that sink in. I emphasized the word soulmate on purpose, I knew it would drive him insane. Ouch. I was really starting to feel bad.
"You-you-GET THE HELL AWAY FROM HER!" He charged at me and I zoomed up to a nearby building rooftop. I glanced down at him and the other kid. Liam had run into a tree. I chuckled.
"Oi! Put her down!" The other kid said furiously. I searched his brain for something to knock his defenses down.
"Ah Josh. You have a lil crush on my Leila don't you? Too bad she will never like you back."
His face falls and he stutters out,"How-How'd you..." This kid clearly knew nothing about vampires and their special abilities. If course, I was the only mind reading vampire, but still. You'd think he'd have been trained better...
"ARGGHHHH!" Liam had gotten up and he charged at me. He started climbing to the roof I stood at. I quickly zoomed to another.
"Sir!" I looked over to Marcus down below next to the building I was on. "We need to go now, we have too many men down!"
"Alright!" In a split second I zoomed behind Liam, who was still climbing, and tied him up. "Sorry lad. At least I'm being nice enough to keep you with your sister, right?"
I saw the defeat in his eyes, and the tiny sliver of hope that his sister would be okay. He was really an admirable guy... He'd make a great vampire..."Just... Please... Don't hurt her." He barely whispered.
I was taken aback. He thought I was going to hurt her?! Quite the opposite. I was doing this to protect her from the clutches of Zayn.
"Oh lad, I'd never hurt her. I want to protect her! I promise you I will do everything in my power to keep her safe from Zayn." I blurted out. Liam looked at me, confused yet relieved. I sighed as I tied up his friend Josh. He was glaring at me.
"You won't get away with this you freak. She will never love you." Josh spat at me.
I felt a flurry of emotions flood me, but the most prominent and immediate one was anger, and I slapped him. "HOW DARE YOU. I AM THE KING OF ALL VAMPIRES!" I roared. Liam was staring at me like I was insane, but I didn't care. Josh on the other hand looked terrified. Good.
"Marcus. Put these two in the car. That blond girl too. Leave the rest. They're useless."
"Yes sir." Marcus replied.
"Everyone! Be safe and never stop training! Just because we are leaving doesn't mean it's the end. You guys are all stronger than you think, each and every one of you is capable of great things! I believe in you all!" Liam called. Wow. Nice pep talk.
"LEILA! LIAM! NO! JOSHY POO! BELLA! PLEASE DON'T TAKE THEM!" Various voices cried. "DON'T GO! WE NEED YOU! PLEASE YOUR THE ONLY ONE WHO'S EVER CARED ABOUT ME!"
I mumbled to myself, feeling slightly bad about what I was doing. But it was the only way. Marcus and the others loaded up the three in the back and I climbed in still holding Leila. Three more vampires followed me in. They sat in between the prisoners. Liam was directly across from me and he was coldly glaring at me. It was then I remembered his bracelet. The sun that shone through the small hatch in the roof glinted off the metal. He hadn't used it once while we had fought. Nor had he used it after we tied him up. How could I have been so stupid to forget about it? He was either planning something, or he knew he was going to lose and he didn't want to risk being separated from Leila. The first time I had met Liam, he had quite nearly beaten me in battle. I narrowed my eyes and began prying his mind but-SLAM. He shut me out. He had turned his head away awhile ago, but as soon as I tried to read his mind he glared at me again.
How was that even possible?! No one could stop my powers. "How the-" I began, but then I heard a groan in my arms. I quickly looked down to see Leila's eyes fluttering open. Sleep sweetie. I crooned to her mind. I didn't want our first meeting to be in the back of a truck in front of this many people.
Liam growled,"What did you do? She was waking up!" I smiled at him and said nothing.
"Sir!" Marcus called from the outside of the huge chariot,"We are approaching your palace."
"Good." I smiled. I looked out the window to my huge palace. It looked fairly normal on the outside, like some kind of billionaires mansion, but on the inside it was swarmed with vampires.
Home sweet home.
