Emmah's POV
We eventually have to go home after all of our beach fun sadly. As it being Sunday, Alex had to go home shortly after we got back since we had school tomorrow. "Remember, Prom is next week." He says winking. I totally forgot about prom when to the beach and now I have to get a dress! I nod my head and give him a kiss and hug goodbye before he leaves. "bye.". We both tell each other. I'm screaming for Jace before Alex can close even close the door. He come in the room looking panicked, "what!?". I smile and say, "I need you to take me prom dress shopping.". I can't read the expression on his face but he says something too, "I have a date to prom too...". I can't process what he said right away because I wasn't expecting to hear that from him. "Oh my God! Really? What does she look like? Would I know her?". I question Jace excitedly. He blushes a little and says, "she's pretty alright, you probably won't know her though, she's a junior. And her name is KaLee." I try to think if I know a girl named KaLee but nothing comes to mind. "I'm so proud of you Jace, my bug brother has a date to Prom!" He shakes his head and smiles as he walks out if the room.
Shortly after Jace leaves the room, I call up Ava and tell her about Alex asking me to prom and everything. She screams excitedly at me the whole time and says she wants to go dress shopping with us so I'm not stuck with Jace's opinions in the dresses. I thank her for that, God only knows what Jace would let me wear if I went with just him. We talk for a while longer, because I haven't talk to her much since my parents accident... She says she has to go eventually so we says our good byes and hang up. Me and Jace eat some spaghetti concoction he made for dinner and then watch some tv. It was vetting kinda late so we head upstairs to go to bed and shower. I lie in bed for a while texting Alex, making plans about prom and then eventually fall asleep.
I wake up the next morning with a smile on my face. Having Jace with me for the weekend helped me try and get past my parents passing. We do our normal routine in the morning and then arrive at school. We are met by Alex at the front if the school and say hello to him. I still get some pitiful looks from people as we walk by but not near as much as before, which I guess is better. Alex walks me to first period like usual and then has to leave for his class. Andy is sitting in his chair just starring strait ahead. "Hey, Andy." I tell him cheerfully. He does a grunt type thing but doesn't say anything to me. He's acting weird but I'm not really sure why, I just brush it off and assume it's nothing important. We are assigned to work on a paper but are allowed to talk. I can barely write my name on my paper before Andy turns to me and says angrily, "why him?". "what? Why who?" I ask him confused. "why did you choose Alex? What's so special about him?" He says with hurt clear in his voice. "I like Alex a lot ok? why do you seem so angry about it, anyways?" I ask. "never mind!" He yells at me and then grabs his stuff and storms out of the room, 'what the heck is wrong with him?' I think to myself. I decide to finish my paper and then work until the bell rings.
Alex meets me at the door and he notices and looking flustered and asked what's wrong, I explain to him about Alex and he just has a blank expression the entire time. He mutters something under his breath and just tells me that he'll take care of him for me. After that, I walk to my classes with Alex and then we are finally let out for lunch. I finally get to meet this Kalee girl that I've heard so much about. Me and Alex sit at a table together and wait for Jace to show up with his girlfriend. When they walk in, Alex's grip tightens on my hand and he tenses up. "what's wrong?" I ask him. He starts to say something but his words are cut off by the Kalee chick hugging him. 'who does she think she is to be hugging my boyfriend?' I think. I also call her a couple of rude names in my head but don't dare to say them out loud. When the girl finally let's go of Alex, he looks angry and she has a sly smile on her face. "And how do you to know each other exactly?" I ask as nice as I can. Alex's face hardens and says, "wouldn't you care to explain that to them, Kalee?" He says rudely. She just smirks at me and says, "he's my ex.". I turn to Alex immediately for answers. "And then she cheated on me and slept with my best friend". He says with a vengeance.
