Emmah's POV
Practice got out and Alex was with Jace, walking out to me. " I have a surprise for you." Alex says to me. I look to Jace silently asking if he knew what he was talking about. He shakes his head no so I just say,"ok, then." "come on, it's at your house." He says, as he grabs my binder and pulls my hand with him. Jace follows behind us and drives us to our house.
"close your eyes first." Alex tells me as he guides me to the door. I hear the door open and then I'm pulled through the door and I hear it close behind me. What is he going to do? I hear some rustling and then he says," open them." I open my eyes and see the cutest puppy I've ever seen before! It was a baby husky barely a couple months old. "Oh my God!" I exclaim and have the first smile I've had in a couple weeks. I drop to my knees and call the puppy over to me and start cuddling with it. "Shes for you, Emmah." Alex tells me as he kneels down next to me. "what's her name," I ask excitedly. "whatever you want, she doesn't have one.". He replies. "uhm, I know this sounds weird but I really want to name a dog Shakira. Then I can have my dog sing songs with me. Ha." I say shyly. They both laugh at me and shake their heads, " whatever you want to I guess. She's your dog." Alex tells me kindly. "Ok, hi Shakira, your my dog now." I tell my puppy. She climbs onto my lap and gives my face little kisses. I stand up and give Alex a big hug nuzzling my face into his neck, "thank you. For everything." I pull back and kiss him right then and there. In front of Jace. Alex kisses me back and a wave of relief goes through me, knowing he'll kiss me back.
This probably made Jace feel really awkward because he loudly clears his throat and gives us a warning look. I break our kiss and feel the blush coming to my cheeks as I look at the ground. I sneak a look at Alex and he has an ear to ear smile spreading on his face. "I'm just gonna be in the kitchen then, don't do anything gross while I'm gone." Jace tells us, giving Alex a warning look. "Ok" is all I say, giving Jace a mischievous grin. Jace walks out of the room with that last comment I said. I turn to Alex and smile. He leans over and kisses me gently, I kiss him back and hug him. We break our kiss after a while and look up at each other. I smile and just walk away from him to pick up Shakira and sit on the couch. He walks around the couch and sits right next to me. I cuddle into his chest and lay my head on him, for one moment I forget all what has been happening the past couple weeks and just be with Alex. He kisses the top of my head endearingly and pets Shakiras head. I fall asleep like this, cuddling on the couch with Alex, just to be woken up by Jace. "can't Alex just stay the night? It's Friday..." I whine to Jace. " why?" He asks. All this time, Alex just sits there quietly, not helping me out here. "because I don't know how to take care of Shakira, and he can help me. Besides, we won't do anything bad, you know I would never do that now considering all that were going through." I reply. With my last comment, Jace's face softens a little and he stops to think for a little. "We don't even have to sleep in my room, we can all sleep down here if you don't feel comfortable with it." I tell him. " hmh, then I have to sleep down here with you guys. Did you even ask if Alex wants to stay?" He tells me. I look at Alex embarrassingly and he says, "I can stay if Jace let's me.". "So you can stay, right Jace?" I ask sternly. "fine.". "I'll grab blankets then!". I announce as I run upstairs. Oh my God, Alex is sleeping at my house with me.
