Emmah's POV

I wake up from a wonderful sleep and curl up to the thing next to me and smile. I jerk my head up to see who it is and then instantly regret it because it shoots pain down my back. A concerned hand is instantly on my arm trying to see if I'm alright. Once the pain goes away I look back up slowly and see that the 'thing' I curled up next to was Alex. My cheeks blush and I try to sit up and scooch away from him a bit. He senses my discomfort and carefully goes off the bed, making sure not to bump me. "I'll call Jace and tell him your up and then get the doctor, ok?" He tells me and leaves the room. I lie in the bed and wait for somebody to walk in and see me. I never realized how boring sitting in a hospital room alone can get until these last couple days. A couple minutes later, my doctor comes in the room and gives me a smile. "So I was looking over some of your tests and if all goes well, then you can maybe get out of here next week if you take it easy.". That is the best news that I've heard since I woke up from that coma, I can go home and see mom and dad. I can't figure out why they haven't seen me since I woke up, it's only been Jace and Alex. The doctor told me some restrictions that I would have and some instructions to follow once I was home. I nod my head and wait for her to finally leave the room once she's done talking.

After the doctor leaves the room Jace comes in right after her, followed by Alex. "Hey, um do you mind if my brother comes in to see you? He said that he wants to." Alex asks me when they walk in. I give them a confused look and Jace seems to get why I'm confused and clarifies it for me, "your friends with him in school.". Well maybe it will help if I see more people I know to regain my memory sooner. "I guess if I'm friends with him then yeah." I tell Alex. He nods his head and walks out of the room I guess to get his brother. Jace gives me a smile and says, "you're looking a lot better than earlier." I spit my tongue at him for this comment since I clearly do not. I have a huge bandage wrapped around my head, a neck brace for precaution, another bandage around my torso for the broken ribs and cuts, arm and leg casts, and then more bandages. To top it off, I'm wearing one of those ugly hospital gowns over most of it. "why haven't mom and dad come in to see me? Are they gone at work or something?" I finally ask Jace. He lowers his head so I can't see his face when he tells me why they aren't here. He takes in a deep breath and then looks back up at me again. "A couple of weeks ago, mom and dad were flying home from work and then their plane crashed." He pauses when I gasp and cover my mouth. "dad died on impact and then mom was so badly beaten up that there was no way to save her from it.". My parents are dead. I start to cry and then Jace walks over to me and holds me in his arms as I let my tears out. Alex walks in the door just then with a boy behind him and then stops in his tracks once he sees me crying. I guess Jace gave him a look and Alex replies to him with a look of recognition on his face as he stands there quietly. After a couple of minutes, my cry slows down and I'm not sobbing anymore. I finally pull away from Jace after a while and sit there in silence for a few moments and then look up to Alex with red puffy eyes.

"This is my brother Andy, you guys are in the same grade and have a few classes together at school." Alex starts off with a soft voice. "nice to meet you, Andy." I say with a raspy voice since I was just crying. He looks a lot like Alex but he has shaggy blonde hair instead of brown. He's wearing basketball shirts and a t-shirt that says 'SWAG' across the front, his skin tone is just a bit paler than Alex's but he's still pretty cute, I think to myself. "hi", he says grudgingly back to me. "how are you feeling?" He asks me this time. Relieved to see he isn't as mad anymore I reply with, "frustrated I guess, I don't remember anything." I say with a half hearted laugh. He smirks at me and doesn't say anything back after that. It grows to be a awkward silence that sits in the room after my last comment since nobody replies to me. "Hey! I know what I can do to cheer you up, Emmah!" Jace says excitedly. We all turn our heads to him and he says, "I can get Michelle to come over so you two can be better acquainted since you seemed to hit it off as friends before prom." I try to think if I remember why Jace cares about a Michelle but nothing to rings a bell. He sees my confused face and says, "Michelle is my girlfriend, you two kinda met at prom I guess.". He explains to me. "You have a girlfriend! of course I want to meet her!" I say genuinely excited about meeting her. "I can have her come over in a little bit, let me go and tell her she can come see you." Jace says walking out of the room, closing the door behind him. "I'm going to drive Andy home now so Michelle, Jace and you can talk together. Call me if you need anything, ok?" Alex announces to us. Alex walks out of the room with Andy in tow, leaving me alone in the room, again.

Yet again, I'm sitting alone in my dull room, with nothing to do but sit there all alone. Not even five minutes pass when the door opens. I expect to see Jace or a doctor come back in to check on me but it's neither. I don't recognize her at all though, she has long brunette hair with unnatural blonde streaks running through it. She's wearing short shorts and a plain blue tank top with a Jean jacket over it, she has wears black sandals that lace up her ankles too. She comes in slowly, plops down on the chair and gives me a smirk. The whole time I'm displaying an odd expression on my face and I'm not really sure how to describe it either. "Do I know you?" I finally ask her after I get creeped out how she just sits there staring at me. "Yeah, you know me alright.". is all she says. Well that's helpful, I think to my self. "but who are you?" I ask her again, getting impatient with her already. She opens her mouth slowly and just says her name, "it's Kalee.". and then smiles.
