Chapter 21| Costume Shopping

"Brent, please tell me" I plead clinging to his arm. "Please!"

"No" he sighs.

"Why not?" I ask as I use my puppy eyes. He knows what I'm doing, now he won't look at me. I got him now.

"Don't give me that look" he groans.

"What look?" I ask innocently.

I rest my head on his chest and poke his stomach. "Lexi" he sighs again.

I sigh as well knowing that he doesn't want to tell me. "Why not?" I ask.

"I just.. I don't want to tell you yet, I'll tell you when I want to, for now you can wait but it shouldn't be long" he tells me.

"I can wait. I'm patient." I say.

"Are you?" Brent says. I look up to find him smirking down at me.

"When I want to, I can be patient" I defend myself childishly.

His chest vibrates as he chuckles. I swat his chest and begin to laugh with him. "I can!" I yell playfully. He chuckles more and he takes a piece of hair on the side of my head and starts to play with it. I can't hide my smile to just be in his presence.

My eyes move back to the tv that's still on and I continue watching the movie that came on.

The show ends and Brent just leaned over the couch and picks something up, now I'm suspicious. He plays with my hair again before whispering, "Done."

"What'd you do?" I ask him as I lift my hand up to my hair. I feel the piece of hair that Brent was playing with.

"It's a braid" he shrugs. A braid? Brent knows how to braid hair?

"Don't look too shocked, I live with all girls" he jokes.

"I'm more impressed than shocked, I don't even think I know how to braid without it looking like a knot" I tell him truthfully.

He chuckles before leaning down to kiss me on the lips.

"Before you guys break out into a heated make out session, I would like to make my presence known" A voice speaks up. Brent and I jump apart startled of the interruption.

I look at the doorway to see Chad. "Hey Chad" I greet casually.

"How did you get in?" Brent asks. Chad shrugs, "I have a spare key."

"I don't even want to know how you got it" Brent sighs.

"So you guys have any plans for next Friday?" Chad asks us.

I look at him bewildered. "What's next Friday?" I ask.

Chad's eyes widen as he face palms feigning horror. I look at him in confusement as he continues to be dramatic. I glance at Brent and he looks shocked too.

"Your girlfriend must be insane!" Chad says in mock outrage. Brent gives him a dead-panned look and he turns to me.

"Next Friday is Halloween" Brent tells me. Oh my gosh! How could I forget my favourite holiday?!

"WHAT?!" I scream loudly. Brent winces and rubs his ear. "Sorry" I apologize sheepishly.

I don't even have a costume, not even a costume idea! What am I going to do? I love Halloween and I can't believe I forgot!

"I need to get a costume!" I say in panic. Brent looks at me before saying, "we can go shopping now."

I nod vigorously. Brent gestures for Chad to follow and he takes us out to his driveway and into his car. I sit in the passenger seat, Chad sits in the back and Brent is driving.

"Party City" I tell him. He nods and begins to drive.

So after trying on many costumes for many hours, I feel like I'm about to drop. I open the curtain and look at them for approval.

Chad looks impressed and Brent's jaw drops. I stifle a giggle at his expression. Chad elbows him and he comes back from his daze.

"I think he likes it" Chad laughs gesturing to Brent.

I smile at his reddening face.

"I like it too, I think I finally found the perfect costume" I tell them before going back into the curtain to change back into my normal clothes.

I exit the change room and pay for my costume.

"All set! Let's go!" I say as I jump into the passenger seat. I see Chad look at my costume in it's plastic bag and mumble 'ironic'. It's a costume, how is it ironic?

Brent drops me off at my house, I wave at him and he waves back before leaving my driveway back to his house.

I am so ready for this Friday.

A/N: So sorry if this chapter seems short or anything, I wanted to add more but it would be too long. So next chapter is planned, but not written so I have no idea when it will be up since I have a lot of projects and I've been getting really busy with summer around the corner.
