*Continued from the last chapter*

Brent puts the car in park and turns off the engine.

"You ready to ride some horses?" he asks me with a cheeky smile.

A smile slowly forms on my face. "Hell yeah!"

He chuckles and we get out of the car. I leave my school bag and skateboard in the car as I follow him out to the stables basically sprinting ahead.

I haven't ridden a horse in a while, and last time was pretty fun, so I'm excited. I arrive at the stables and wait for Brent and he slowly jogs up to me.

"You're more excited than I thought you would be," Brent chuckles.

"As long as I master my inner equestrian, I'm excited," I say with a head tilt.

He laughs as he unlocks the stable and we walk inside. I immediately make my way to Sadie, and Brent makes his way to Prince. I rub Sadie's neck as Brent puts a saddle on Prince and getting him ready.

"How do I saddle Sadie?" I ask him.

He walks over to me and tells me step by step on how to saddle her up. After Sadie is saddled, Brent finishes saddling Prince and he mounts him. Following Brent's steps from last time I attempt to climb on Sadie.

"Having trouble there?" Brent asks with amusement in his voice.

"Nope," I grunt pulling my leg over Sadie and hugging her neck from behind with a sigh.

"I'll get there," I say lightly as Brent chuckles, clearly amused.

"I would get too cocky, soon I'll be able to kick your ass in a horse race," I challenge making Brent laugh more.

"I don't doubt it."

We begin riding the horses and we make our way to a trail in the woods.

"How often do you do this?" I ask Brent.

"As often as possible actually," he replies going a little slower for me to catch up.

We reach a small clearing with a picnic table and a big box with a lock on it. Brent descends Prince and attaching his lead to a small post. Brent comes close to Sadie and waits for me to get off Sadie. As I try to get off Sadie, my foot slides and I end up falling off straight onto Brent.

We fall into a pile and he cushions my fall as my heartbeat quickens with sudden adrenaline due to the fall.

I hear Brent grunt and I quickly get up hoping I didn't hurt him.

"Oh my God, are you okay?!" I ask helping him up.

"Yeah I'm fine," he says dusting the dirt off his shirt.

"You sure, that was a hard fall for me and you cushioned my fall?" I ask checking his face to see if he's just lying.

"I'm good, I've played football enough so I'm kinda used to it," he shrugs.

(A/N: I'm talking about American football btw)

I stare at him for a second before concluding that he's being truthful, but I can't help but feel like he isn't.

"Okay," I say quickly giving him a quick kiss on the cheek and leading him to the picnic table to sit down.

"So what is this place?" I ask him as he grabs my hand and starts stroking his thumb against my hand.

"My happy place."

I sit in confusion for a bit. "What do you do in your happy place?"

"I just sit here and think. It's where I recollect my thoughts and the scenery helps me feel better, I thought that if I brought you here it could help you too. You've been acting really upset lately." he says looking around the trees inspecting everything about it.
