*Continues from chapter 29

"Unfortunately, he isn't okay."

It takes me moments before I can speak, and when I do I still can't get my words right.

"He-okay?-what?" I stutter at the police officer.

"Our police officers have found him in horrible damage taken hostage in a man's home. We don't have a story yet, but we will get back to you as soon as possible," he says solemnly.

"He was...he was kidnapped?.." I ask quietly and he nods.

"Can I see him?" I ask and he hesitates before shaking his head.

"I came here to let your family know about what happened, and I'm afraid that your friend William is currently in an emergency surgery," he says in a calming voice. He must've been the one to bear the bad news one too many times.

"What hospital?" I ask my eyes widening quickly and I run to grab my jacket.

"St. Francis hospital," he tells me and follows me with Thomas behind him.

The officer leaves through the front door and I turn to Thomas with my jacket and my shoes already on.

"I know I have school, but can you please let this slide?" I plead and he nods.

"I'll call the school when we get to the hospital," he says grabbing his own jacket and I follow him to the car and I get in and he drives to the hospital.

On the way to the hospital, I text Jake and Josh telling them to go to the hospital asap.

We arrive within a few minutes and I rush through the door and make my way to the front desk.

"I need to see William Barlow," I say to her and she nods at me and types on the computer before looking back up at me.

"He'a currently undergoing surgery, I need to ask you to wait," she tells me.

"What happened, why does he need surgery?" I ask and she gives me a sad look.

"Unless you're family, I can disclose that information with you," she says and I give her a pleading look.

"Please, I need to know, my name is Alexandra Callop," I tell her and she looks on the computer and looks back up at me.

"He has a horrible spinal injury, a broken arm, and many sprained limbs, he's in surgery in hopes that they can repair his spine so he won't be forever paralyzed," she tells me and the fear kicks in.

"Forever paralyzed as in, never walk again?" I ask receiving a nod. Swallowing the lump in my throat I attempt to understand what that means. If this surgery doesn't go right, Will may never walk again. "When can I see him?"

"It depends, it could be hours," she says. "You can take a seat and we'll notify you when you can see him."

I nod and she gestures to the waiting area. I enter the room and sit down.

As I sit down I see Jake and Josh running through the doors and I wave them down. They see me and sit down on either side of me.

"What's going on?" Jake asks.

"They found Will, and he's in emergency surgery right now. They found him hostage and in bad condition, his spine is injured and if the surgery doesn't go well he might never walk again," I say blocking out my emotions for right now. I'll freak out later, right now, I need to make sure Will is okay.

"Oh God," Josh mumbles and Jake stays quiet.

I nod and lean back in the cushioned chair.

"I'm waiting for Will to get out, they said it could be a while though," I tell them.

"How long?" Josh asks.

"Couple of hours."

~~~~~~
"Anyone here for William Barlow?" A doctor says coming into the waiting room.
I stand up immediately and I pull Jake and Josh up as well, startling them from their slumber.
"Are you three here for William?" The doctor asks us and I nod.
"Well the surgery went as best as expected, his arm is in a cast and he did have a large knife puncture in his leg which was patched up. It's going to take a while, but your friend is going to be okay," he says and I try not to interrupt to ask the question I really need to ask.
"Can we go see him?" I ask my question finally leaving the tip of my tongue.
"You can, but he's currently resting," the doctor says and I nod. "Room 215 floor two, there's a map that will direct you to the west hall."
I grab the arms of Jake and Josh and pull their sleepyheads behind me as I make my way to see if my best friend is okay.
I find the door quickly and I head inside to find Will stirring in his sleep looking pained wth every move.
This is my fault. If I hadn't gone to talk to him he wouldn't have run away and whatever happened to him wouldn't have happened.
His heart rate machine beats a little faster than normal and I continue to worry.
"No!" He screams waking up from a nightmare his breath heavy and tears already forming in his eyes.
Jake, Josh and I all quickly move to be close to Will.
"Will, it was only a nightmare, it wasn't real," I tell him reassuringly, but he looks at me and shakes his head.
"It was real, it happened when we took me into that dumb room, he wouldn't even take care of the wounds, he was gonna let me die out," Will says looking down at his hands on his lap. Then I see tears pouring down his face like crazy.
This is all my fault.
Will has been through so much, and I just let this happen to him. Not only is he hurt physically, but he's probably emotionally scarred. I would be too if I were hurt and kidnapped for almost a month.
I shouldn't have let this happen.
Will is my friend, and I didn't protect him.
Some friend I am.
A/N: Okay so... That was crazy. You guys will most likely find out the full story in the next chapter or the next few so at least that's a good thing..
So what do you guys think about what's happening? What do you think about Will's state? What do you think really happened to Will the night he disappeared?
Also I'm back home, I actually just updated my other book called Reputations (and this chapter) which I wrote on my phone the entire ride back in my car. Don't worry, I wasn't driving, I don't even have my license xD (I wish I did though)
I really want to focus on finishing this book and Reputations so I can start another book because right now I have like 20 book ideas that I really want to share xD
This is kind of a long author's note so I'm gonna end it here.
Hope you enjoyed <3
