Chapter 13:

Caleb’s P.O.V

‘I can’t believe he’s actually found her’ I thought as I got out the shower. I honestly hadn’t expected him to find her. I mean its been over three months now. Initially I did wonder if he would find her then after the first month I thought we’d finally get to keep her. I thought we really wouldn’t lose her. But we were going to. I was going to. And I hated it. I didn’t want Luce to go. ‘Neither do I’ a voice said. One I didn’t hear to often and I jumped at the sound of it. I knew it wasn’t one of the guys through the pack link. Yes we had a pack link because well we had to inhabit some features from our fox side. ‘who’s that?’ I ask into my mind, which to be honest I feel a little dumb doing. ‘its your fox you dumbass!’ the voice sneered. ‘Well isn’t he delightful’ I thought sarcastically. ‘You know I can hear you…you know because I am you!’ My fox said simply. I shook my head, this was madness. Our foxes didn’t talk to us. Well they did on occasion when we were in fox form and in danger. But never in human form. Or should I say vampire form because in this form our vampire side was much more dominant. Even though our vampire side was more dominant anyway. God this was so confusing. ‘Why are you suddenly talking to me?’ I asked him confused because honestly I really didn’t have a clue. ‘Luce’ was all he said which really didn’t help. ‘What about Luce?’ I asked. Though having a conversation with myself I admit was rather strange. I’m just glad I wasn’t speaking aloud otherwise someone might lock me up in the looney bin. ‘She’s ours’ he said and I was even more confused. What did he mean she was ours? We don’t have mates and even if we did Luce already has a mate. I already knew that. ‘How can she be ours. I don’t understand’ I admitted. He growled, clearly frustrated that I wasn’t understanding something that was apparently obvious. ‘She is ours! As in she is our mate! Ours!’ He growls. I gasped. That can’t be true. ‘That can’t be right. She has a mate. That and we don’t have mates!’ I said really not understanding. ‘She is ours. You will see.’ he growled before going silent in my mind once more. I was so confused. I really didn’t understand this at all. I sighed and ran a hand through my hair. I threw on a pair of light denim jeans and a black vest before stepping out the door intending on going downstairs. 

Strangely moments later I found myself outside Luce’s door. I knocked softly. “Go away Abe. I’m not letting you in too seek your revenge” Luce shouted from the other side of the door. I couldn’t help but chuckle. Typical Luce landing herself in trouble. Though usually its her and Abe that have caused trouble with someone else. Seriously they were like the terrible twosome. After stopping chuckling I decided I’d try again. “Seriously Abe its not going to work!” she screamed and I laughed before saying “Little slurpie its me” I heard a gasp before she opened the door and peered round, her golden eyes shining and her red hair was damp but looked hot. Wait hot? What the hell. “Can I come in?” I asked because this was weird. “Sure as long as your not in on revenge with Abe.” she said narrowing her eyes at me. I hold my arms up in surrender. “I’m not I promise.” I say. And she looks at me before holding her hand out. I go to take it but she just holds out her pinkie. “Pinkie promise?” she asks sweetly making my heart hammer in my chest. I wrap my pinkie around hers and she grins before letting me into her room. “So little vamp fox what can I do for you?” she asks before sitting down on her bed, clearly not fussed that she’s only wearing shorts and vest pj’s in front of me. Not that I was complaining to be honest. I mean have you seen Luce. She is beautiful. ‘seriously why do I keep thinking these things about Luce! I never used to!’ I thought as I went to sit beside her. “I’m not little my dear I think you will find that it is infact you that is the little one” I say grinning. She rolls her eyes. “Aww. What’s the matter little slurpie?” I tease and she scowls at me. “Don’t you start. This is how the situation between Abe and I started earlier and that didn’t end so well for his mini me” she said laughing. I gulped. Personally I’d like to keep that in tact thanks. “What’s up Caleb, you’ve gone a little pale” she teased. “Nothing love” I said sweetly and I watched as her body trembled under my tone and I couldn’t help but love how I could have that effect on her. “I wondered if you wanted a movie night?” I asked her suddenly. She grinned and nodded. “On one condition” she said, a smirk appearing on her face. ‘Oh no! That look usually spells trouble’ I thought. “Oh really and what is this condition little slurpie?” I asked. “You have to go get the popcorn…because like I do not have a death wish and dying in a popcorn scenario just doesn’t seem a good way to go.” she says and I look at her like she’s gone insane. Which to be honest I think she’s always been insane. In a good way naturally. “Fine. Deal” I said, actually surprising myself but then I knew I didn’t want to leave her and if going to fetch popcorn meant I could spend the night with her, then so be it. ‘Man I was going soft. Damn my little slurpie’ I thought. “Yays! Thankies little vamp fox. Now don’t let Abe in. You have five minutes and then the invitation is revoked” she said smugly. Damn she’s mean. “Best get moving then hadn’t I” I said before bolting out the door and into the kitchen faster than I even thought I could.
