Chapter 4:

Luce’s P.OV

Bolting into the pack house I go to head to my room, my head spinning from what had just happened. But sadly I’m not lucky enough and the moment my feet make contact with the stairs I’m spun back around and hands are placed over my eyes. “Ah someone turned out the lights” I scream deciding to make the situation comical. I hear a chuckle and I know its Damon that’s covering my eyes. The only thing I don’t understand is to why he’s doing that. “Damon. I know it’s you! And if you value your life you will step away slowly or I will send my vampire penguin army to destroy you” I threaten which just causes him to chuckle more. “Sure you will Luce” he says still chuckling. I roll my eyes finding it typical that he doubts my armies. If only he knew. “Damon. Seriously release me” I command and he laughs harder. “I find it funny how your ordering me around Luce when I’m YOUR Alpha” he says chuckling and guilt goes through my slightly because I was always brought up to respect the Alpha and here I was blatantly disrespecting him. But in my defence he was making me blind! “I’m sorry Alpha” I quickly mutter. “It’s fine Luce I was just teasing” he says laughing and it does make me feel better but it also makes me want to kick his ass for guilt tripping me. “Well in that case I’m so kicking your ass later” I say and he laughs. “Sure you are Luce. Now come on” he says dragging me away from the stairs, which causes me to groan. “Now now Luce, less of that” he teases as we continue to walk. I say nothing suddenly rather concerned where he’s taking. ‘Oh my god he’s a secret serial killer and he’s taking me to his murder dungeon! I’m going to die on my own birthday” I thought dramatically. “OMG! I’m too young to die” I suddenly scream and I feel Damon pause. “Luce no one is going to kill you” he says seriously and I just scowl not quite believing him, afterall he is leading my blind to god knows where to do god knows what. What else did he honestly think I was going to think. Seriously. I then realise he can’t even see my scowl because of his hands, so I just stomp my foot in frustration. “Then where the hell are you taking me” my tone showing my agitation. He chuckles. “Patience Luce, we are nearly there” he says carrying on walking. I sigh and decide I’m sadly going to have to wait this out. So decide to use my time wisely to plot my revenge, providing I make it out alive to carry it out that is. Moments later I feel him remove his hands, but before I can turn around to kick his ass, I’m terrorised by a sea of voices screaming happy birthday at me. I jump and stand like a ninja about to pounce. Everyone just laughs at me and I look around to see practically the whole pack crammed into the living room. “Erm hey guys!” I say awkwardly. Mya comes rushing up to me, dragging me into the group more which is exactly where I didn’t want to be. I sigh but plaster a fake smile on my face all the same while thanking others for the happy birthday greetings.  “Come on! Party time!” Mya screams happily and I just look at her gone out. “Cheer up” she says and I shrug but decide I was just going to have to go with it. So grabbing an alcoholic drink on the way out I made my way through the crowd with Mya. All I could think was that I hoped this night ended soon.

Mya’s P.O.V

Watching Luce dancing on the table with her invisible teddy bear I couldn’t help but collapse to the floor in fits of hysterics. I mean seriously who does that, even under the influence of alcohol. But then again Luce has never been one to do the norm, so guess it sums her up really. She’d spent most of the evening drinking and most people wanted me to stop her, but then I didn’t want to, because at least while she was drinking she was happy and carefree and I’d rather that was the case than her continue to be miserable on her birthday. So I guess you could say her dancing on the table was my fault. But I wasn’t bothered it was hilarious. “Oh teddy your dancing skills are out of this world” Luce sings dancing again, which just served to create a new round of laughter throughout the crowd that had gathered around her. I left Luce dancing on the table to get another drink, but no sooner had I left her I heard a crash and gasps all around. Spinning around the only thing I noticed was Jax shooting towards Luce at a speed I didn’t even know he possessed. In fact it was almost like a mate trying to get to an injured mate, which made me wonder. But before I could contemplate this I realised it was Luce crumpled on the floor unmoving, blood pouring from her head. “Oh god. Is she okay?” I asked pushing through everybody to get to where Jax picked up Luce’s unconscious body. “Get the pack doctor to Luce’s room now” Jax growled and I nodded and ran off in search of the pack doctor. “May May you have to come quickly its Luce, she’s unconscious and bleeding” I gasped out. May nodded and bolted from the room. Running behind her to Luce’s room I prayed she’d be okay. She was too young and wild to leave this world right now. She had her whole world ahead of her. No she couldn’t die. ‘Yes don’t think that way Mya’ I told myself as I headed into Luce’s room. As I headed in all I could see was blood pouring from her head and it scared me. I don’t think I’d ever seen that much blood before. ‘Oh god make it stop’ I thought as I watched May rush to Luce’s side and apply pressure with a gauze to the wound on Luce’s head while she asked what had happened. Jax looked to me and I felt like a deer in headlights. “Erm she was dancing on a table. I should of gotten her down, I knew she was drunk, I’m so sorry. This is all my fault” I said guiltily and Jax just growled. “Now Jax calm down. Mya this is not your fault. Now it looks like the gash to her head isn’t as deep as it first appears and should be healed in next couple of hours. She should come round soon too. Just keep an eye on her” May said and I nodded numbly. Jax didn’t utter a word he just held Luce close. May left moments later smiling at me as she left. I tried to smile back but didn’t really have the heart. Guilt raged through my body and I didn’t know what to do with myself. Looking over at Luce I could tell she was in good hands with the way Jax was lovingly caring for her. I knew in normal circumstances I’d of thought into Jax’s behaviour but right now I just wanted to leave them to it and go to my mate instead.

So that’s exactly what I did.
