Chapter 31:

Caleb’s P.O.V

I had been walking round on cloud nine all day. My night with Luce had been out of this world. There actually were no words to describe it that would even slightly do it justice. So I wasn’t even going to try. All through the meeting I’d just had with Abe I couldn’t get my mind off Luce. I’d asked her to come to the meeting with me but she’d declined. Saying she wanted to just chill with music and well I had to let her. She gave me the puppy dog eyes and everything. Who wouldn’t give in to them? Come on let’s be serious. So I’d sadly left her to her music and came to the meeting alone. I had needed to talk about how the pack dynamic was going to work with Luce joining it. That was the point of the meeting. But I’d ended up having a discussion with Abe about asking Luce to marry me. Yes marry me. Madness I know. But I loved her so much and I wanted the world to know. He’d said it was great idea as long as Luce didn’t have full reign of the decorations otherwise it would be something utterly bonkers. But I just laughed at this. At least the wedding would show Luce if she had a hand in it had been my response. To which Abe just laughed and told me it was my funeral. That had been where the conversation had come to an end because well I was missing Luce like mad. That and I felt rather antsy all of sudden. Something didn’t feel right. I got up quickly and left the room. There was only one place I needed to go. I needed to see Luce.

Reaching Luce’s room I found it empty and her scent was fading. Which meant she hadn’t been here for at least twenty minutes. But as I’d come up the stairs, which were the only access to the bedrooms I’d not sensed her, so she couldn’t have left her room that way. My worry went to a worrying red level on its scale. This wasn’t like Luce at all. ‘Where could she be?’ I thought anxiously as I walked further into her room. I kind of hoped her absence just meant she was upto one of her evil schemes. But the fear that was running through my veins currently at finding her room empty told me otherwise. I walked towards her bed and went to sit down when I noticed her notebook beside her iPod. I picked up the piece of paper and read what was on it. Reading it the blood in my veins instantly turned to ice. “ABE!!” I screamed. Moments later Abe materialised in the doorway. “what’s wrong Caleb” he asked looking rather alarmed. “He’s took her” I say holding the note out to him. He took it from me and read it aloud as the other guys had come into the room to see what was going on. I guessed they’d heard me shout. “I told you she was MINE. And now she really is. It’s funny how you thought she was yours just because you made her believe she was your mate. Ah well she won’t be your little slut anymore because she’s MY mate. You won’t be seeing her again. Oh and thank you for making this so easy. Much love. J.”

I felt my anger flare up as Abe finished reading it. ‘How had he managed to get past us’ I thought angry at myself for being so lax with her security when we’d just challenged her ex mate who I’d clearly seen was pissed about her being marked by me. I sighed and began pacing the floor as I ran a hand through my hair in frustration. “We will get her back” Abe said softly and I nodded. Damn right we would get her back. She didn’t belong to him. She wasn’t just an object to own like he kept referring to her as. Now she was a living person and she deserved to be loved and I knew she wouldn’t get that from him. ‘She would probably be tortured with the mood he was in’ I thought, my heart lurching at the thought. I really needed to save her and quickly. “Damn right we will. No one harms our little sister” Alaric says seriously which actually surprises me. Which he must have noticed my surprise. “What can I say, she grows on you” he says shrugging and I couldn’t help but chuckle at him. She did indeed. She wormed her way into even the coldest of hearts. And the best thing was she wasn’t even fully aware of the impact she had on people. I guess you had to love her naivety sometimes. “I knew it would happen” Abe says chuckling. I couldn’t help but nod in agreement. She was bound to affect the rest of us eventually. The more time she spent with us, the more she affected us. In the best possible way obviously. Looking around the guys I realised just how much she held their hearts. They all looked like they were ready to go to war. Because he had taken something that he should of never touched. He took my mate and their little sister. And that made us pissed and determined to get her back. So if it was a war he wanted it was a war he would get. Either way I was going to get Luce back. And I had my brothers backing me in this. Their facial expressions told me as much. I looked between them and said the one thing that came to my mind. “Let’s go get our missing family member back and bring her home where she belongs” I say and they all nodded and with that we all bolted out the pack house, shifting into fox form and set off searching for the girl that held all our hearts.
