This chapter is written as Jacob.
I awoke to the sound of my incessant alarm, bleeping at me like an early warning system. I turned my head and looked at the time.
'Ugh... Ten past six already?' I thought, groggily pulling myself out of bed. Rubbing my eyes, I got up, went through my drawers for clean underwear and something to put on that looked good.
"Hey, sweetie." Mom said, opening my door. She was wearing one of her many red and white dresses, one of the ones Dad got before he left. She walked over and enveloped me in a huge cuddle. Squirming to get air, I managed to break free and breathe.
"Aww, I'm so proud of you! My little boy's all grown up!" She said, clearly forcing back some tears. I smiled and nodded my head to the open drawers.
"Oh, sorry! I'll make some breakfast. Okay?"
"Okay Mom."Finally, I managed to find something to wear that looked alright and didn't make me look idiotic. I patted my desk to get my glasses, and sure enough, there they were.
After eating, I said goodbye to Mom, just as my friends came to knock on my door. As I left, Mom sat with a solemn look. I could tell something had happened. Maybe Dad found somebody else. Although I can't be angry... He never really noticed me. It was almost like I wasn't there.
Turning back to my friends, one of them said hello, and we all just began chatting.
"Did you see that new film?" We'd say, and
"What do you think of the new phone?" we'd say. Just generally... Talking. Like normal people. We decided it was time to head to school, and so did just that. Once the gates opened, we all poured in and took our first seconds as freshmen.
