I sat in my chair, aimlessly looking at my wall. At the picture that I had managed to recreate of me and Mom. "Why... Why'd you do it, Dad...?" I said. Then there was a knock at the door. I slowly walked there to see there was a girl standing there, looking toward the forest near me. "Nicola." I said, opening the door. I'd met her down at the town, and we'd been best friends for a while. She was holding a bunch of flowers. She looked at me, sadly.
"Hey, Jake... How you holdin' up?" She asked. I could tell there was worry in her voice. I managed to croak, "I'm... Better... Only slightly... Still... Hard to imagine. Dad hurt her, but I didn't think to this extent." I said, dully. She smiled at me.
"Well... These are for you, I just came to see how you were." She said, holding the flowers out to me. I nodded and took them, forcing a slight smile as she hugged me briefly.
"Get better soon." She said, waving as she went back down the hill. I looked at the flowers once I shut the door. They were the only bright thing I had in my home. I'd gotten really depressed, so I'd barely done anything for a while. I sat down, put them in the vase that I had lying around, filled it with water and put them on the coffee table. With a sigh, I sat.Depression... Gets us all.
