Around nine forty-five that evening, Sloane lets herself in, putting the spare key back under the decorative rock beside the front door. She immediately smiles when she sees Liam laying on the couch and Mackenzie laying on his chest. She kneels next to them before taking a picture.
"Liam," she says softly, placing her hand on his cheek.
"Mm hi," Liam smiles, feeling the extra pressure on his chest.
"Hi," Sloane leans in and kisses his lips. "You should put her to bed."
"Oh yeah," Liam laughs a little and sitting up slowly not to wake her up. He stands up and makes his way to the bedroom, laying her in the crib. He makes his way down the hall and back to the living room as Gunner is laying on the couch, his head in Sloane's lap, her scratching his head.
"She is knocked out," Liam smiles.
"I'm sure. Big day," Sloane says, resting her feet on Liam's thigh. Gunner adjusting between her legs with his head on her stomach.
"How was work?"
"Good. Busy."
"Are you staying tonight?" Liam asks, sliding his hand on her leg.
"Mhm. Hope has a date," Sloane smiles, Gunner nipping at Liam's hand when he touches her.
"Hey buddy, she was mine before she was yours," Liam looks at him, pointing at him. Gunner licking his finger. "Come on, let's go outside," Liam snaps, Gunner jumping off the couch. Coming back, he walks over sitting back down on the couch.
"Do you want anything?" Liam asks.
"I'm alright," Sloane leaning against him. "Feel different being a dad?"
"It feels weird, but a good weird."
"Yeah?"
"Yeah," Liam grins, leaning over and lightly kissing her on the lips.
"She looks just like you."
"Scary isn't it?" Liam laughs. "Do you wanna go lay down?"
"I need a shower first. I smell like beer and fried foods."
"Okay," Liam nods, kissing her a couple of times. "I'll clean up and meet you in bed. Clothes are optional," he winks at her.
"Or you can come with me," Sloane stands up, unbuttoning her jeans as she walks backward, facing him.
The monitor goes off.
"The baby is calling my name," Liam stands up too, walking towards her, then heading to Mackenzie's room.
