Abi's POV:
I cannot believe this. It's actually true. This island will not protect us. I was wrong. I'm literally speechless.
I glanced to dad, Lauren, Melissa and Jason; all had the same expression as me. I have no idea what to do now.
"HELP!"
My thoughts were interrupted by the sound of a voice from the rubble.
"HELP MEEEE!"
We quickly rushed over to save the person. He was a middle aged man, looked no older than my dad.
"Thank you"
And with that he quickly ran off. I realised we had no time to stand around, we had to help the people in the earthquake.
I wonder what Lauren, Dad, Melissa and Jason were thinking. All that was going through my head was that I was wrong. I WAS WRONG I WAS WRONG I WAS WRONG......
Lauren's POV-
I knew it all along. But I won't brag about me being right, that's just wrong. We all silently accepted what happened and did our best to help. No words exchanged.. Nothing.
Going through the town, helping people out gave me time to think. The day was going so well, no way would I, or anyone else would have expected this. It just wasn't fair. Why did this have to happen? Everything was going so well, as much as I'd hate to admit it, I liked it here. I missed my old life. I didn't have to worry about all this.
But it's not my fault the world went to shit.
The best we could do now is help others. I roamed around the town and found the beach. I was oddly calm, considering what had just happened. I wasn't sure what was going to happen next. Is the island going to get hit again?
"Hey Lauren?"
It was abi. I wonder how she's doing.
"Heya Abi, you okay?"
"Yeah.. I just.. Wanted to say.. That.. You were.."
"Don't need to say it. It doesn't matter now. What matters is we should try and get away from here."
"Yeah, Lauren, I just want to say thank you, for being an amazing sister to me, even though we've had our fights, I wouldn't switch you for anyone else."
"Abi.. Your acting like we're going to die. But thank you, Abigail. How annoying you can be at times I love you."
"Love you too"
She pulled me into a hug, and I was instantly relieved. I never wanted it to stop. I could feel the tears forming but I quickly blinked, getting rid of them.
"Dad said we should get going."
I slowly walked behind her, taking one last look at the scenery.
Abi's POV-
As we made our way back, there was a slight shake in the ground. I stopped, looking around. Everyone else had stopped too. Before I could even register what was going on, a massive rock came down, heading straight towards us. There were screams and shouting and after that my head went blank and I collapsed.
****************
I slowly awoke, looking around, dazed. Holding my head, which was throbbing a lot, I searched for everyone.
The place was unrecognisable. I guess an earthquake had struck, and the already destroyed town, just got a lot worse. Where were dad and Lauren? Jason and Melissa?
"DADDD! LAUREN! JASON! MELISSA!"
It hurt everytime I shouted, but I had to keep doing it.
I heard a muffled sound coming from my right. I clawed at rubble, and saw a hand stick out. It was Melissa.
"Melissa!"
"Abi, Abi, I can get myself out, just help Jason, he's more stuck."
Melissa quickly got out and we helped Jason. His leg was stuck, but Melissa assured me it was ok, and I continued my search for dad and Lauren.
I turned around to find Dad, half covered in dirt. I ran to him and gave him a big hug.
"Lauren is okay, I helped her out."
"I'm glad your okay though, dad!"
"Yeah honey, we need to get out here quick, before something worse happens."
I agree with him.
Jason was okay, his leg was a little sore. But overall it was fine.
We got our things and headed up the mountain. I took one final glance at the ocean, when I noticed something funny. The water was receding.
It couldn't possibly mean?
No....
Not yet....
"WE GOTTA RUN!!"
"Why?"
"DONT QUESTION ME JUST GO!"
I needed to get away as far away as possible. I ran and ran until I couldn't take it anymore.
"ABI WHY ARE WE EVEN RUNNING?!"
"I saw the waters receding... Which usually means a... Tsunami..."
It couldn't happen.
I looked back, and on the horizon, I saw a huge wall of water fast approaching.
I gasped.
I looked around, tears in my eyes.
Is this the end?
