Shawn's POV

I grabbed my guitar and put it in the case, zipping it up. I grabbed my phone, putting it in my pocket and left my house.

Penelope's POV

I walked out of Starbucks and sat at a table outside. I took out my phone and scrolled though Instagram. I heard a faint sound of applaud. I looked around and didn't see anything. I got up and walked on the sidewalk, following the sound.

I soon started to hear the sound of an angelic voice singing along to the strumming of a guitar. I walked for another block and walked around the corner to see a crowd of people rounded around someone. I waked closer and the voice got louder. "I'm telling you to take your shot it might be scary. Hearts are gonna break. 'Cause we don't have the time to be sorry. So baby be the life of the party. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Life of the party. So don't let them keep you down. Oh you know you can't give up. 'Cause we don't have the time to be sorry. So baby be the life of the party" I heard the voice sing as the song ended, and everyone applauded.

A few people left and I got closer to the singer. The singer looked up and I saw that it was Shawn. "Shawn?" I said. He looked over at me and I gasped. "Oh my god, Shawn!" I said.

"OH my god, Ph-Penelope" He stuttered, getting nervous.

"Oh my god, you never told me you could sing that well!" I said.

Shawn got up and shrugged, avoiding eye contact, "Not a lot of people know." he said. "At least friends and family and such." He said.

"You're super good." I said, "was that song an original?" i asked him. Shawn nodded as he put his guitar away. "It sounded beautiful" I spoke.

"I wrote it about a beautiful girl." He said, turning around with his guitar in his hand.

"Oh." I said.

"mmmhmm" He said, smiling.

"What's her name?" I asked him as we started to walk in the direction of his place. He shrugged and looked down at the ground as we spoke. "I've never seen you this nervous." I said. Shawn chuckled as we started to cross the street. We arrived at his house and he invited me inside. I accepted and we both went inside. He set his guitar down and I looked around. "Damn you've got a nice place." I said. Shawn chuckled and thanked me. We both sat down on the couch and sat in an awkward silence.

"You're a really good singer." I said, trying to make small talk.

"Thank you." he said, smiling as he looked down at his lap.

"Like, really good." I said, putting my chin on his shoulder, causing hm to chuckle. "LIKE DAYUM GOOD." I said, causing us to both laugh. "I wish I was good at something."

"You're good at cheering people up and being funny and adorable." He said, looking at me, causing me to blush and smile. "your boyfriend's really lucky to have you." Shawn said quietly.

"I-I don't have a boyfriend." I stuttered, at the thought of Aaron and my breakup, looking down.

"Oh." he said, "so you're single?" He asked me.

"yep" i said, popping the p.

"So are you free tomorrow night?" he asked me. I looked up at him and said, "Maybe.... why?" I asked.

"Would you like to go on a date?" he asked, causing my stomach to erupt with butterflies. "Y-yea." I stuttered, smiling wide.
