Ethan.
I stood on the balcony for about 45 minutes trying to wrap my head around the fact that Mia will never want me as much as she wants Grayson. The thought hurt but I needed to admit it to myself. The longer I sugar coated the facts, the more I would hurt in the long run.
"Yo, E," the sliding door to the balcony screeched open and Grayson popped his head out.
"Yeah," I said monotoned.
"She's still asleep, you might wanna go lay with her so she doesn't have another episode,"
"Why didn't you just stay with her?" I snapped and spun around. I swiftly passed him as I stepped foot inside and plopped down on the couch to hold my head in my hands.
"Because...," he trailed off. "I can tell how much you like her,"
"It doesn't matter-"
"It does matter.. to me," he smiled. "I'm gonna help you out, bro"
I sighed and gave him a small smile. I couldn't be mad at him; it wasn't his fault Mia wanted him and not me, and I couldn't be mad at Mia either.. it's not like you have control over your feelings.
So really, I couldn't be mad at all. The anger within me is just a cover up for all of the jealousy I withheld inside and I really just needed to let it go.
"Go lay with your girl," Gray smiled and patted my back.
I saw his smile drop into a frown as he got up and disappeared down the hall. I knew he wanted her just as much but was blocking her out. He believes he's not good enough for her, and in reality that's not true at all.
I do agree with him on one thing though; she needed to stay out of harms way and if he truly thought he would hurt her, staying away from her was best.
I stood to my feet and dropped my hands to my thighs and rubbed them up and down nervously.
I creaked my door open and tip toed across the room to the other side of the bed. I placed one knee up on the mattress and climbed over to her and underneath the blanket.
My hands glided over her waist as I admired her body. It was so perfect, everything about her was perfect. From the way she smiled, laughed, walked and joked around; she was just overall the most amazing girl I've ever known.
I slid my arms around her and snuggled into her body, twirling a piece of her long, brown hair around my finger.
She began to stir in her sleep and I perched myself up on my elbow.
"Hey, it's okay" I cooed turning her body to face mine and pulling her against my chest.
"Graysonnnn.." she mumbled in her sleep. My heart dropped when his name fell from her lips.
"Mia," I shook her softly.
Her eyes finally opened and she sat up frantically throwing her arms outwards.
"He-hey baby you're okay" I sat up and pulled her body into mine. She was shaking harshly and her tears flushed down her cheeks as she sobbed into the nape of my neck.
"Shh, talk to me, I'm right here" I brushed my hand down the back of her hair, caressing her neck in the palm of my hand as she lent onto me.
