I was inspired to do this tutorial by onederstruck-s Alaska Cover Contest Entry.

I hope you like!

P.S. not all of this is recreational via PicsArt, but most is.

Step 1.

In Phonto, write your text on a plain image -NOT YOUR COVER.

Save the image, and then open it up against your actual cover in Superimpose. (I just threw one together in five minutes)

Step 2.

Place the text where you want, and then go to Mask.

First, use the magic wand to delete the background.

Merge and save.

Step 3.

Next open up this image:

Or search up your own - sword png.

Place the sword over the text, and then go to this funky option in Superimpose called perspective.

You can find this in the homepage.

It's icon is two hammers.

Click on that, and then choose Foreground.

It will give you a whole bunch of options for you to choose from, and I suggest choosing the side ones.

This makes the sword look less 2D and more 3D. 

It looks like it's going through, instead of just being on.

Step 4.

Once you're done with that, go to Mask, and click on the smooth brush.

Begin erasing away parts of the sword that overlap the text, but remember to leave some alone, otherwise it'll look like the sword is just behind it.

Once you're done, merge and save.

Step 5.

Add any additional text in Phonto, and then a nice filter.

And you're done!
