I woke up bright and early, even before Dotty was up. I hope that the day ahead of me would go smoothly. A lot of the kids here already knew each other, where as I was the new kid. I was fresh meat. A good impression would benefit me in the long run, so I took extra time getting ready this morning. When I got out of the shower Dotty was waiting to get in and was too tired to even give me a word, which I understood. But I had to break that silence with a couple of questions.

                “Dotty?” I called for her.

“Yeah?” She replied but her voice was muffled by the sounds of the shower.

“This is going to sound stupid, but what do people wear here?”

“Wear whatever you want, just keep in mind that it’s kind of cool out.”

“But I don’t want to look like an outcast.”

I think she could tell from my tone of voice that I was a little nervous, because she turned her awkward voice into a more comforting one and said, “People around here have seen too much of the same thing, something new will be refreshing.”

I turned back to my room and looked through my closet. In the end I decided to wear a purple body con skirt, a white button up top tucked in, with a grey thick knit cardigan on the top. It looked casual yet very fashionable. I did a pretty simple makeup look. I was fortunate enough to have clear skin so I did winged liquid liner on the top, and then pencil liner on the water line. I topped it off with mascara that made my long lashes look fuller.

I looked at the counter on my vanity and saw a picture of me and Natalie smiling the last day of 8th grade year. I missed her so much. She was truly the only person I trusted fully. We became friends way back in kindergarten. I was being bullied by one of the older kids when she came in and kicked some serious butt. Maybe she should join me here and be an agent without powers. She would probably be able to pull it off. I made a mental note to myself to ask Renee or Mr. Kindler about that later on. I would do anything to have her here with me.

“Reagan let’s go! I’m ready!” My thought bubbles immediately burst when I heard Dotty call for me. Dotty was nice and had total friend potential but I still missed Nat.

“How do I look?” I walked out of my room and saw that Dotty was wearing ripped jeans, a black shirt, and a taupe brown cardigan. With her flats and her perfectly loose bun, she looked pretty yet laid back.

“So cute! I didn’t know my new roommate was a fashionista.” As we walked out I saw some people very under dressed, and some people very over dressed. I was happy to be right in the middle. We went to the dining hall for breakfast, and it was pretty packed, just like the day before. I wasn’t too hungry so I just grabbed a fruit salad mix, and bottled water. “Don’t you ever get hungry?”

“Just wait till dinner. You might want to cover your eyes, I’ll be so hungry by then.” She laughed and continued eating. “I better get going; I don’t want to be late to my first class.”

“Okay, see you later. Good luck. Don’t give in to peer pressure!”

I laughed and picked up my shoulder bag that I was using as a book bag. I got to geometry with two minutes to spare. The teacher introduced himself as Mr. Stuller and told me to sit in the second seat in the first row. The seat behind me was empty but other than that all the other seats were filled up. Mr. Stuller was calling attendance when he got to my name and then I remembered who sat behind me. It had to be Parker.
