I got up, grabbed a towel and left. I knew that I didn’t like Parker, he was just a really good looking kid that I let get the better of me, but still I didn’t like him making me look like a fool. This is exactly why I didn’t want a boyfriend at this stupid school. They just create drama, and I didn’t need that. I’m here to find out what really happened to my mom and only that. The sooner I could be out the better. Of course I couldn’t let anyone know about my plans. If the AOSS found out they would be furious, without a doubt. Knowing that someone was in here, getting all this classified information only to leave them, they’d probably think I was on the Malum’s side. I would think the same thing if I were a part of the AOSS. I was almost at my dorm when I got this really weird vibe. I could feel people’s emotions. They were worried, almost nervous. From the corner of my eye I saw someone run towards the glass building which was the lab I had been in a few days ago for my tests. I teleported my self to the inside. I found myself behind a tall boy trying to get past the card swipe. “You know, I’m pretty sure you need a staff card to get in.”
The boy turned around to face me. He was surprised, but not scared. He wore all black and had medium length caramel colored hair, with blue eyes to match. “You wouldn’t happen to have one of those would you?”
“What are you here for?” But before I could emphasize the question in my sentence he lunged at me and pinned me down as a defense attack. As if I even moved towards him. I kicked him straight in the chest so that he would be forced off of me, and then kicked him again so that he fell on the ground. “Who do you work for?” I managed to say as I breathed heavily.
“Who’s asking?” He stayed on the ground, but I had a feeling he wasn’t tired out yet.
“I’m not stupid; tell me, what are you here for?”
“I don’t actually need you to answer me, I know who you are. You’re Reagan.”
“How do you know who I am?”
“I go to school here.” He pulled out a card to show me he was telling the truth.
“Then why are you fighting me and sneaking around?”
“I’ll tell you if you let me in.” He had backed me up against a wall and I shivered a little because it reminded me of Parker, so I pushed him off.
“I might let you in, if you tell me what you’re doing.”
“I have no problem with that; I can wipe your mind if you don’t agree with me.” So he was a telepath? We went where the wall made a 90 degree angle. He sat on one wall and I sat on the other. This way we were close enough to talk, but not too close. “Where should I start? I’m Matt Wells, sophomore here at the institute. I came here last year when my dad was killed, kind of like what happened with you and your mom. I came here, to the institute and the lab today, to find out the truth, and do um what my dad would’ve wanted me to do.”
It was almost hard to believe that someone had went through almost exactly what I was going through, and I wasn’t the only one here for the truth. “So you don’t actually want to be a spy, you just want to find out what happened, and then be gone?”
“Yup, and my telepathy tells me that you are here for the same exact reason.”
“I am. I’m going to find out what happened, the truth, because I know they’re not telling me the whole truth. Then I’m going to avenge her, hurt the people that hurt her, and I’ll be gone. The sooner I can do what I have to do and get out of the AOSS, the better.”
“I think you just found your partner in crime. We can help each other. Think about it, no one else feels like we do, they want to be spies and if we let it out that we’re ditching as soon as we get the truth out, we’ll be questioned and be thought of as the enemies.”
He was right. And the one thing I needed right now was someone on my side, that knew how I felt. “I’m in.”
He was kind of taken aback that I was so quickly convinced but he smiled. He had the whitest straightest teeth I’d ever seen. He was hot too. Hotter than Parker. He put his hand out and we shook on it. “So can you get me in? All the cameras are disabled, and I just need to get a file on my dad. Maybe there’s something I could find in there you know?”
“I can get you in, but be ready for a bit of a fall.” I closed my eyes and teleported the two of us to the other side of the door. Just like I predicted we fell from a couple of inches off the ground. “Sorry.”
“No worries. Now let’s find the files.”
