“What?! Oh my god, I’m so not ready!”

“Come on we have to get going!” She walked out of the room and I caught up.

“Do you know what we’re going to be doing?”

“Nope, I got a text from Bari asking us to meet her at 216. I’m pretty sure it was forwarded to everyone. You probably got one from Henderson.”

“I haven’t even unpacked my phone yet. Which way did you use to get to 216 last time?”

                “Science Department.”

“Same. Good thing you remember though, because I barely remember how to get to the basement.”

“Basement?” She looked at me like I was speaking a different language.

“Yeah, isn’t that how you got in there?”

“I went from the girl’s bathroom. There’s one tile that opens up a stair case into the tunnels.” I showed her where the entrance through the basement was and it only took us five minutes to get to 216. This time we were waiting on Parker. He came in only a minute later than us.

“The Panel gave us a pretty big mission for our first one. Apparently they’d debated which squad would get it and they thought with us having an alpha, we’d be good. There’s a group called the Malum, and they sent out a bunch of their agents to get the glass writings.”

“Wait, we’re going to base zero?” Meagan asked.

“Yeah, the Malum have been going to a lot of places near base zero, and we think they want the glass writings. It’s a huge job.” Henderson said while he let out a nervous sigh. “And we really need your help, Reagan.” He said out loud very quickly. “I know you’re new to this but we have no time to spare, and since you’re an Alpha, you’re the only one that can teleport us to base zero.”

No pressure. “What! I don’t even know how to teleport myself, let alone eleven other people!”

“Just calm down. The Panel told me that it should be a pretty easy task. They said, ‘Just think of the place and the people you’re taking.’ Please, the most we can ask is that you try, and we need to hurry.” From the tone of Henderson’s voice I could tell that this mission was no joke. Those Malum people could get there any second and take whatever it was he was talking about. I’d have to ask Dotty about it later.

“Okay.” I closed my eyes and thought, “Parker, Dotty, Meagan, Ace, Carter, Olivia, Scott, Bari, Derek, Dylan, Henderson, base zero.” A glowing orb appeared around each person and within seconds we were in base zero. Well, more specifically on the floor of base zero, because I teleported us a foot above the ground and then of course gravity came into the equation. “Ow. Sorry guys.”

“Sorry? We wouldn’t have got here if it weren’t for you. Plus it was your first time, you did great.” Henderson said to me.

“Tell that to my aching back.” Meagan said. “Kidding, kidding.” Although I knew she wasn’t because my fall hurt pretty badly too. “So what’s the plan?”
