Chapter 31

"Black Veil Brides."

"Well it sounds catchy."

"Are you okay with all this?"

"Of course baby as long as you're happy."

"I am. I'm very happy."

"How do Chris and Amy feel about you dropping out?"

"They support me and understand that this is what I want to do."

"Well that's good."

"You sure you're okay with all this?"

"Why wouldn't I be?"

"Okay if you're sure."

"I'll be your number one fan okay."

"Thank you for supporting me baby girl."

"Of course."

"Ready to go?"

"Where?"

"Home. So we can watch movies."

"Oh yeah! Let's do that."

"Alright."

Andy and I walk hand in hand to his car and immediately I see a familiar face standing by his car looking in the windows.

"Um sir, why are you looking at my car?"

"I was waiting for you."

Suddenly it clicked. "Andy let's go."

"Ade why are you in such a rush."

"Please leave me alone!" I scream, tears running down my cheeks.

"Ade baby what's wrong?" Andy asks with a hint of fear in his eyes.

"Please let's just go."

"No!" The man says grabbing my arm.

"Let go of me!" I yell in his face.

"Hey let go of my girlfriend you fucking creep!"

"Hey I had her first." He said with a wink.

Andy immediately punches him in the face, and then the guy retaliates by slamming Andy's head into his car, knocking him right out. The guy let's go of Andy's head and he immediately falls right on the pavement.

"Andy!" I scream. I can see a crimson liquid pool out of the back of his head. "Oh no." I think.

"HELP! HELP! SOMEBODY HELP ME!" I scream and suddenly feel his hand wrap around my throat making it hard to breathe.

The next thing I know I'm woken up by some stranger dressed in white. My vision is blurry and fuzzy.

"Adrianna are you awake?" The person asks. I try to respond but suddenly fall back asleep.

A few hours later I'm awoken again by the sound of a door opening and closing. This time my vision isn't as blurry but it's still hard to see.

"Mister she's on a lot of medication, you should come back later."

"I'm just going to see if she can answer my questions Miss."

I hear someone sit in a chair next to my bed and hear the sound of a pen click.

"Adrianna, are you awake."

I groan in response.

"Are you going to be able to answer my questions?"

"M-maybe." I croak.

"Do you remember what happened?"

"Um." I clear my voice so it doesn't sound so raspy. "I was attacked."

"What do you mean by attacked."

"This man, he was looking at my boyfriend's car and he um slammed Andy's head into the car and then Andy fell and his head started bleeding. I screamed for help but the man choked me, I-I don't remember anything else."

"Do you know who this man was?"

"My former adopted father. Mr. Cortez."

"Okay I'll let you get back to sleep sweetie." He says while getting up.

"Wait, how's Andy?"

"He's okay. He has a concussion and he has a gash on his face and the back of his head. He'll live though."

"Thank you."

"Mhm. I'll come back in an hour or so, I have more questions."

"Okay."

A few hours later

"Why did Mr. Cortez seek you specifically out."

"Because..."

"Ad-"

"It's hard for me to talk about okay?"

"Why?"

"Because he put me through a lot."

"How so?"

"When I was his adopted daughter he use to touch me and abuse me. Eventually Mrs. Cortez found out and left him and brought me with her. She ended up over dosing on pills not too long later."

"Ade I'm so sorry."

"Please tell me you guys have caught him."

"No we haven't."

"So what am I suppose to do? Wait in fear that he'll find me again?"

"Ade we worked something out with the police. From now on you'll always have one outside of your door and when you're released there will always be one on duty."

"What about school?"

"We think it's best that you stay home. At all costs."

"Seriously?"

"Seriously."

"Have you guys contacted Mrs. Castro yet?"

"Yes, but unfortunately her job won't let her leave so for the time being you'll be alone."

"Can you go pick my best friend up though? She lives in the same house as me."

"Unfortunately no. I was told I have to stay here to keep you informed."

"Damnit."

"I'm sorry Ade."

"I know you are."

"Get some rest. I'm sure they'll be here soon."

"Fine."
